James Bonds Ms Moneypenny Lois Maxwell, who became so well-known for her performances as Ms Moneypenny in the James Bond films, has died. The Canadian-born actress starred alongside Sean Connery in the first James Bond movie, "Dr. No," in 1962 as the secretary to M, the head of the secret service.- but there's much more to her acting career than that. She started out against her parents will - and without their knowledge in a Canadian childrens radio program - credited as 'Robin Wells'. Before the age of 15 she left for England with The Canadian Army's Entertainment Corps and managed (after her age had been discovered) to get herself enrolled in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where she met and became friends with Roger Moore. Her movie career started with a Warner production A Matter of Life and Death (1946). After having won The Most Promising Newcomer Golden Globe Award in 1947 she went on to participate in 6 Hollywood productions before she decided to try her luck in Italy. She had to leave for England because of her husband's illness, and since then she has had roles in a number of movies besides the first 14 Bond movies. In 1989 she retired. She died Saturday night at Fremantle Hospital near her home in Perth, Australia. Bond star, Roger Moore said she was suffering from cancer. She was 80.

Then and Now- Dianah Rigg - aka Emma Peel The Avengers Dianah Riggs is known for her role in the British 1960s television series The Avengers, where she played the secret agent Emma Peel for 51 episodes between 1965-68. Her career in film, television and the theater has been wide-ranging, including roles in the Royal Shakespeare Company between 1959 and 1964. Her professional debut was in The Caucasian Chalk Circle in 1955, aged 17. Riggs tried out for the role of Emma Peel on a whim, without ever having seen the program. Although she was hugely successful in the role, she did not like the lack of privacy that television brought. She also did not like the way that she was treated by ABC Weekend TV. After a dozen episodes, she discovered that she was being paid less than a cameraman. July 20, 2008 she turned 70.

60s Ad For Royal Crown Cola With Teen Idols Dino Desi and Billy Here's the story behind that group now known as Ricci, Desi and Billy. Ricci Martin, Desi Arnaz Jr. and Billy Hinsche were old friends, who grew up together in Beverly Hills, California. Their common bond was the music they made. Ricci, Desi & Billy is their newly formed musical group featuring original material as well as the songs of 60's musical teen sensations Dino, Desi & Billy (Desi & Billy's former group). Though this is a new configuration of the original band, the last names remain the same - Martin, Arnaz and Hinsche. The idea for this group came at a benefit for the late Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys, which was held at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. Desi and Billy performed a song which Desi had written called "My Old friend" in honor of their friend and partner Dean Paul Martin (Dino) who died in a plane crash while flying for the California National Guard in 1987. Ricci performed his hit single, "Stop, Look Around" from his critically acclaimed album "Beached", co-produced by Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche. There was such a powerful, magical feeling that night, that Ricci, Desi and Billy decided to form a trio.

Ben E King Stand By Me In 1960, a singer named Ben Nelson left the Drifters after failing to gain a salary increase and what he felt to be a fairer share of the group's royalties. He then assumed the more memorable stage name Ben E. King in preparation for a solo career. Remaining on Atlantic Records, King scored his first solo hit with the stylish, Latin-tinged ballad "Spanish Harlem" (1961). "Stand by Me" was his next recording. Written by King along with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, "Stand by Me" was voted one of the Songs of the Century by the Recording Industry Association of America. "Stand by Me" and "Spanish Harlem" were named as two of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll and were both also given a Grammy Hall of Fame Award. In 1986, Stand By Me was re-issued following its use as the theme music to the movie of the same name. This video was made in the late 80's, with Ben E King and two of the stars of the film, River Phoenix and Will Wheaton.

Who Killed The Red Baron This is an interesting documentary clip about the Red Baron's last flight. On April 21, 1918, Germany's Manfred von Richthofen (known more familiarly to the world as The Red Baron) was shot down in France while pursuing Canadian aviator Wop May. For years there was considerable debate about who actually fired the fatal shot that killed Richthofen. A Canadian pilot named Roy Brown was given credit for the kill by the Royal Flying Corps. The Australians gave credit to one of their machine gunners on the ground. Modern forensic investigations tend to favor the Australian claim.
