Farrah Fawcett -In April 1976, a poster company Pro Arts Inc., that had started out making anti-war posters, started to hear about a young up-and-coming beauty named Farrah Fawcett doing Wella Balsam shampoo commercials. Fawcett arranged to have Bruce McBroom, a freelance photographer with whom she had worked with before, do the shoot. McBroom took the pictures at Farrah's poolside Bel Air, California home!! --On September 22, 1976, the first episode of Fawcett playing the character Jill Munroe in the TV series Charlie's Angels was aired. Around the same time, her swimsuit poster was released. It went on to sell a still-unrivaled 12 million copies and she became known for her tousled hair and bright smile. The hairstyle went on to become an international trend, with women sporting a "Farah-Do" or "Farrah Hair" and the hairstyle was even spoofed in various media... (born February 2, 1947) is an American actress. She was a noted pop culture figure whose hairstyle was emulated by millions of young women, and a sex symbol for millions of young men in the 1970s and 1980s. She went on to become a critically accepted actress, appearing in television movies (The Burning Bed, Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story and sometimes unsympathetic Small Sacrifices)...Fawcett was married to Lee Majors, star of The Six Million Dollar Man, from 1973–1982, though the two separated in 1979. During this time, she was known as Farrah Fawcett-Majors....From 1982 to the present, Fawcett has been involved romantically with actor Ryan O'Neal. The relationship produced a son, Redmond O'Neal, who was born in 1985.

Toronto Scrabble In The City 2007 Allow me to indulge in a specialty clip produced by a Toronto news channel in 2007. A few of my Scrabble friends/rivals appear in this clip: Roger Cullman, Jim Nanavati, and Tim Anglin. The clip focuses on an informal weekly get-together for Scrabble junkies that Roger runs at a local bar. (For the record, Roger has never beaten me in his life. I've beaten Tim more often than not. Jim I've only beaten occasionally.)

Andy Roddick Serena Williams Media Conference Because they are usually worldly and well educated, tennis players seem to give the best interviews. Here is a good example: Andy Roddick and Serena Williams, childhood rivals, exchange barbs.

1969 Baseball Card Prank This 1969 Topps baseball card, despite what it says, is not a picture of Aurelio Rodriguez of the California Angels. It is actually Leonard Garcia, the team's 16-year-old batboy. The prank was orchestrated by Rodriguez himself.

Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes The singer of this song has a special distinction in the world of rock & roll. His name is Tony Burrows, and he may be one of the most famous / anonymous characters in music history. He was a session singer in England, and in 1970, he had the distinction of singing lead on 4 hit songs in a few month span. “Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes” by Edison Lighthouse, “My Baby Loves Lovin’” by White Plains, “United We Stand” by Brotherhood Of Man, and “Gimme Dat Ding” by The Pipkins. Music videos were produced for White Plains and Edison Lighthouse, but the studios did the Milli Vanilli move by having actors lip sync the parts. This video shows Tony singing live, and as anybody who has seen the color videos for both songs on youtube can attest, those singers look nothing like Mr. Burrows. He also had the opportunity to perform 3 different songs by 3 different groups on January 29th of 1970 on BBC’s “Top Of The Pops. On a final note, his last Top 40 contribution came in 1974 when he fronted the band First Class, which gave us the song “Beach Baby” He still performs today, but not too many people would know who Tony Burrows is if he came to their town. That is, until he started singing.

TVs Worst Sitcom The Trouble With Tracy Canadian television has been responsible for some of the worst sitcoms ever. The nadir is probably The Trouble With Tracy. To satisfy new Canadian content requirements, there were 130 episodes produced for CTV during the 1970-71 season. That's right, 130! It was a daily sitcom set in New York City. Because the episodes came off the production line so quickly and CTV was cash-strapped, quality control was minimal. Flubbed lines often stayed in the shows because retakes were too expensive. Rumor has it that all the master tapes have been destroyed. Here are the opening credits that some masochist recorded.
