Jack Dempseys Broadway Restaurant Here's newspaper or magazine ad, probably from the 1950s, promoting Jack Dempsey's restaurant in New York City. It was a Broadway staple for many years. The ex-champ loved to mingle with his fans.

YesterYear Doo Wop and Interview How often do you find someone doing something you'd never expect of them. I did just that with Paul Timpanelli who is the President and CEO of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council. He is an original member of the Doo Wop group YesterYear. I also interviewed former Vice President Candidate and Senator of Connecticut today Joe Liberman....I know you all would enjoy Paul's group first! I have more of YesterYear's music to come throughout the week, I was to stay for 2 songs, I stayed for so much more!

Longest-owned restaurant in America question mark Okay, friends, I'm going to try this again, because I just found out that the reason no one could access this post was because of the question mark in the title. Here's a challenge for you. In my community there is a restaurant called Ramon's Cactus Patch, and it's been owned and operated by Ramon Sanchez since 1938. I admit that most of the work is done today by his son Roque (pronounced Rocky) and his daughter Ramona, but Ramon, in his mid-nineties, is still the boss! Can you come up with a restaurant still operating with the same owner for a longer time? Not just the same family, but the same individual. The Cactus Patch has been in its present location since 1962.

Colonel Sanders on Whats My Line Here's one for the archives! Colonel Harland Sanders, the magnate of Kentucky Fried Chicken, appears on What's My Line as a regular contestant on December 1, 1963. Even though there were more than 900 KFC restaurants in existence at the time, the panel does not know who he is! Unbelievable!

McDonalds Monopoly Scandal 2001 Mathematicians knew something was very wrong with the Monopoly-themed contest at McDonald's restaurants in 2001. Against all odds, a hugely disproportionate number of big-prize winners were being claimed by residents of South Carolina, even though that state accounted for less than one percent of McDonald's sales nationally. An investigation was launched. It was quickly discovered that the game pieces for the contest were printed in South Carolina. Unscrupulous employees of the security company--who had been hired to ensure the game was on the level--had conspired with insiders at the printing company to illegally obtain the key Monopoly pieces for large prizes. Your eighth-grade math teacher was right: Probabilities and outcomes apply to the real world.

Charlie Chaplin Restaurant Scene One of my favorite Charlie Chaplin comedic bits is from this 1916 film 'The Immigrant.' Charlie finds a coin and promptly loses it. He does not realize he has no money until after he treats regular co-star Edna Purviance to a cafe meal. How will Charlie get out of paying the bill? Watch...

DAVID Carradine Dead at 72 From the BNO Newsroom. BANGKOK, Thailand (BNO NEWS) -- "Kung Fu" and "Kill Bill" star David Carradine was found dead in his hotel room in Bangkok on Thursday, a U.S. State Department official told BNO News. He was 72-years-old. Carradine had been in Bangkok since Tuesday to shoot an upcoming movie. A U.S. State Department official said that Thai officials had notified the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok that Carradine had died but further details were not immediately released out of consideration for his family. Thai police officials, however, say that Carradine did not show up when he and his film crew were supposed to dine at a restaurant in the Thai capital on Wednesday, but they assumed he took a break because of his age. On Thursday, at around 10 a.m. local time, a hotel maid opened his suite and found the star hanging in a closet. According to a newspaper report, he was described as being half naked. There were no signs of a struggle. His agent confirmed to KABC-TV that Carradine had died, but said he believed the star died of natural causes.
