Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, a black & white original comedy. This original movie incorporated old Hollywood clips featuring leads from the 30s and 40s into a complete new film with Steve Martin at the helm.
It must've been a nightmare to put it all together.
Carl Reiner directed this 1982 film.

The Dick Van Dyke show, one of our all time favorite sitcoms, with Mary Tyler Moore, Ann Marie, Morey Amsterdam, Richard Deacon and Carl Reiner. Wish they were still on the air.

The 2000 Year Old Man was a creation of Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner starting around 1961. Brooks played the oldest man in the world, interviewed by Reiner in a series of comedy routines that appeared on television as well as being made into a collection of records. Brooks would ad lib answers to topics such as the earliest known language ("basic Rock"), the creation of the Cross ("it was easier to put together than the Star of David"), and Joan of Arc ("Know her? I went with her!"). The inspiration for the skit was a tape-recorded exchange between Brooks and Reiner at a party. The tape recorder was brought in and the two of them had the party audience in stitches.

One of my favorite game shows was Dick Clark's Pyramid. Over the years the prize money gradually increased. This is the start of a very early episode from 1973 when the big prize was a mere $10,000. The celebrities are June Lockhart and Rob (Meathead) Reiner.

In 1956, "Godzilla, King of the Monsters!" was released to western audiences. Back in its day,Godzilla was a great movie for teenagers, and a great date movie. "Godzilla, King of the Monsters!"This was something completely different than King Kong. This version is a Japanese-American motion picture that was actually released first in 1954. In Japan, the film can be said that it become associated with the Japanese media culture. In the beginning, the Japanese original was shown in some theaters in America, likely the westcoast and New York, subtitled before Raymond Burr was asked to participate with adding English spoken scenes. In this English version, other American actors were newly written into the devised script. You can say, the same technical way was used when Carl Reiner combined Steve Martin to previous Hollywood productions. This was done effectively in 1982's "Deadmen Don't Wear Plaid," which was featured here on YRT already. The union of adding the shots to the Japanese Godzilla film worked successfully that more movies were made featuring the monster. Most of these films that followed were all made in Japan, though with dubbed voices for world theater and TV audiences. *E*
