On June 5, 1973, Canadian radio personality Gordon Sinclair delivered this stirring, pro-American editorial. He had written it in 20 minutes. Simply titled The Americans, it followed his noontime newscast on CFRB in Toronto. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Radio stations in Buffalo, New York asked permission to play the broadcast, which was granted. Soon afterwards it swept across the United States. Sinclair's verbatim editorial was made into this recording (with the Battle Hymn of the Republic playing in the background). It reached #23 on the Billboard charts, making the 73-year-old Sinclair the oldest living person to have a Billboard top 40 hit! At Sinclair's request, the proceeds from its sales went entirely to the American Red Cross. When President Ronald Reagan made his first official visit to Canada in 1981, he asked to meet Sinclair. Reagan told Sinclair that his editorial always cheered him up when he was feeling down.

William F. Buckley Jr., the erudite Ivy Leaguer and conservative herald who showered huge and scornful words on liberalism as he observed, abetted and cheered on the right's post-World War II rise from the fringes to the White House, died Wednesday. He was 82.
Editor, columnist, novelist, debater, TV talk show star of "Firing Line," harpsichordist, trans-oceanic sailor and even a good-natured loser in a New York mayor's race, Buckley worked at a daunting pace, taking as little as 20 minutes to write a column for his magazine, the National Review.

I am one of six boys my mom and dad raised. Grew up in southeastern Michigan. Back then ya couldn't keep us in the house. No computers or cable TV, We made our own fun. Football, Baseball, Hockey, We even made our own Ice Rink every year. Went into the army 1980, thought gonna get drafted,wanted to get in before. Reagan just got into office The Hostages, Remember? Met my beautiful wife in the service. Lived in Germany a couple years,had such a great time. Been married going on 26 years. Lots of rough times but thats made us appreciate the good times. Did various jobs over the years. Cooked in lots of restaurants loved it but hated the hours. Weekends nights Holidays, Aargh. Just recently moved into our own Home, Own it! Such a Blessing, goes to show ya Do good, good things will come your way. To be included in the profiles of members is an honor to me. Such great people here! Thanks Steve for the Invite! Life Is Good!
