pretty risque "LUCKY LADY"! i was looking for a pic of Marjorie Bong Drucker for jimmyjet . . who went from homecoming queen to World War II "nose art" queen. She met and dated military aviator Richard I. Bong in 1943. When he returned to combat, he put her picture on his plane rather than one of the pinup girl paintings known during the war as "nose art." And when Bong became the top U.S. air ace of the war, his girlfriend's image became famous throughout the United States. After he returned from the front, the two had a storybook marriage. . .

December 14th marks the birthday of Charlie Rich, one of the most talented, yet underrated musicians of our time. Here he is performing "The Most Beautiful Girl" on The Dean Martin show in the late 70's.
At this time in his life his battle with emphysema was becoming evident in how exerted he was coming up the steps. He continued to sing and keep his concert dates, but by the 90's he had pretty much gone into retirement, only playing at his home studio or when an intervew took him away to another location. His last professional release was his most proud creation, his R&B album of Pictures and Paintings in 1992.

Trivia: Notice the sign for Henry Steig's workshop behind Ewell. Steig was a New York artist best known as a silversmith. His modernist pieces have been exhibited at MoMA and are highly sought by collectors. Paintings by Henry Steig are in the permanent collection of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Steig's brother was the sculptor, cartoonist and children's book author, William Steig . . .
