Betty Grable This sensational bathing-suit photo, with her head looking over her right shoulder, became the number-one pin-up girl of the WWII era. It was later included in Life 100 Photos that Changed the World. Grable was best-known for her shapely legs, which were showcased in all of her 20th Century Fox Technicolor musicals and were famously insured by her studio for $1,000,000 per leg at Lloyds of London.

Ann Margret Bye Bye Birdie 1963 The 60's gave birth to some great musicals. Director George Sidney began and ended his film of BYE BYE BIRDIE with a title song (that wasn't in the Broadway show), in order to showcase Ann-Margret. Amazingly, this woman looks almost the same today. I just don't know how they do it.

The Cowsills Live HAIR October 17, 1967, the opening of the Broadway musical HAIR. Hair was a product of the hippy counter-culture and sexual revolution of the 1960s, and several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement. The title song was also a hit single for The Cowsills in 1969, and here it is!

The Original Peter Pan Mary Martin It's 1955, you and your family are all seated around your brand new twelve inch color TV. Mom made snacks, which are sitting on top of TV trays, (all the rage). This is a momentous occasion. Tonight, you will witness a magical event, a live broadcast of Peter Pan, straight from Broadway. It has music, adventure and best of all it's in color thanks to the NBC peacock. The production also starred Cyril Ritchard as Hook, and Sondra Lee as Tiger Lily with Lynn Fontanne.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Here's another wonderful performance by Judy Garland that brings back alot of memories, and some tears as well. It's from the 1944 film, Meet Me in St Louis. It tells the story of four sisters living in St. Louis at the time of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition World's Fair in 1904. Judy met her future husband while making this film, he was the director, Vincent Minnelli. In 2005, Time.com named Meet Me in St Louis as one of the 100 best movies of the last 80 years.

The Sounds of My Childhood When I was only 3 yrs old we moved from a farmhouse in Trenton NJ to my Nonna's two story home in Brooklyn. She had a very old, but beautiful RCA Console Victrola with which she played music every day. This was such an experience for a child at that time. Opera, and Broadway musicals, my favorite became the original Broadway recording of South Pacific with Mary Martin and Ezio Pinza, and Nonna's favorite tenor, Enrico Caruso. Her music flowed through the house every day and even after all these years, I can just close my eyes and still hear it...a little bit scratchy, but a beautiful memory I don't think I'll ever forget. This song is Caruso singing La Donna e Mobile.

Try to Remember One of the most beautiful songs from the 1960's, from Broadway's 'The Fantasticks', which opened on May 3, 1960, and closed Jan 13, 2002, after 17,162 performances. This song, performed by the Brothers Four, was part of a PBS special on folk music. It reminds me of an era when The Brothers Four, The Lettermen and other groups would perform at coffee houses, winter canivals and university campuses.....Try To Remember!
