Many people wrongly assume that when the American hockey team beat the Soviet Union 4-3 in Lake Placid they captured the 1980 Olympic gold medals. Nope. The modified round-robin format of the tournament meant the Americans still had to play Finland two days later--and win--to assure themselves of the gold. In this clip Rob McLanahan scores a third-period goal to put the USA up 3-2. The home team eventually won 4-2 to take all the marbles.
