The 1967 Wonder Woman Cancellation! Here is something unusual on YRT. An unbelievable BAD corrupted attempt on destroying a dramatic heroine with a flair for bad, bad acting. This was a 1967 mistake to follow the superhero trend at the time. The Batman series was what the Wonder Woman creators were trying hard to copy. It was definately unaired when the result was shown to the studio who were considering it. Does Ellie Wood Walker look like Wonder Woman? No. That is Linda Harrison as the female costumed hero. The working title of this proposed series would of been "Wonder Woman: Who's Afraid of Diana Prince?" There were four writers involved with this short clip. It was Greenway Productions, the same organization that was responsible for their "Batman" and "Green Hornet" series. They shot less than 5 minutes of this useless screen test. What were they thinking? This is not a 1941 Wonder Woman, just a cheap imitation. That is actress Maudie Prickett as the mother. In this show the girl would've just dreamt of being Wonder Woman instead of really being her. It would of been a disapointment for all involved, including the viewer. I think this pilot episode just was forgotten as fast as it was made. Maybe? Wonder Woman was attempted again several years later with Cathy Lee Crosby in 1973. It failed too. Then, in 1975 when ABC took away the comedy and took it into the right time era of the 1940s, this is when things began to change with viewer success when shown on television. Though, because of its unsensible theme the network bosses decided to give the character back to the makers of the show. The producers went to CBS with new plans. But with CBS, they decided to change a few things to the already established show. A change of era for the main characters. It would be a little similiar, but this time it would be updated to now. *E*

Harry and the Hendersons: Movie Preview (1987) Recently, there has been a lot of talk about Bigfoot on YRT. How many of you were seen in the theater watching this Academy Award winning film, remember 'Harry and the Hendersons'? This movie showed us the screen acting debut of Bigfoot as Harry, with supporting roles supplied by John Lithgow, Don Ameche, and Melinda Dillon. This eighties comedy dealt with the real-life Bigfoot brought to civilization. Academy Award? Yeah, it won for Best Makeup. Harry was given the best makeup job out of all the respected actors for his moving performance as the man/creature. Shortly thereafter, a syndicated television series was shown in the early 1990s for two years. None of the actors from the movie appeared except for Bigfoot. His subsequent feature movie appearance was in Tim Burton's 'Planet of the Apes' in 2001. *E*

The Buggles - 1979 New Wave Act Germany: 1-hit wonders. They are best known as having the first clip to be featured on the station that would change movies and television for the rest of time. The famous clip attracted a lot of attention as being the 1st to be featured on the new station from NYC. That date is fondly recalled from 08-01-81. Remember that day? Russell Mulcahy, a noted film director had that job, making them memorable on the small screen. It's about an old-time perfomer who is taken off the air due to the popularity of the new medium we have come to know. Now, don't be confused that it was the 1st. The act was British, and the tune was brought out in the earliest week of 09-79. Besides, the two backup's , Debi Doss and Linda Jardim, the bunch consisted of famed Trevor Horn, and on the keyboard Geoff Downes from ASIA, and Bruce Woolley rounding it all off. Over the years since released, there have been exciting reunions with the all original perfomers. The Prince's Trust in 2004 played to a packed audience who were tremendously responsive to the reunited guys. Nice! Looking back, they brought out a second vinyl release, but it didn't have an impact. *E*

Wings - 1979 Remember the summer of 1979? I am speaking in regard to what would be played again and again from the 'Back to the Egg' release. Appearing fast, the catchy disc went up to number six in Britain and hit position eight in America, with the well-known sci-fi lookin' album jacket eventually going Platinum. With that, I mention that it had been luckily shot in an aircraft hangar in England, and originally shown commercially on American plugged boxes in 1979, and later in June, 1981 on BBC1, but a whole two years had passed for some reason, which today is rather uncommon. Collectively, it was a special program that resulted in drawing fans to the stated 1979 release. "Getting Closer" was just one of many world-wide hits that was 1st brought out in North America in June of that year, and in Britain in August as a third vinyl disc. For some reason, critics didn't like this from the "hits" group. Again, something that was not common for them during the 1970s. Gradually, more single releases appeared off Back to the Egg, can you remember them? An abundance of talent was shown from the complied release then. Truly, all rolled up from the successfully touring group. Put simply now, Wings, started in 1971 by Paul and Linda lasted only a brief time, they had eleven top-rated discs, with all credited to Wings, which resulted with Gold and Platinum sells, and each new release went up to the ten in both Britain & America, with five vinyls soaring above on the US charts one right after the other. Hard to argue against their success. Did you know that the only three on-going members of Wings were Paul, his wife Linda, and ex-Moody Blues guitarist/vocalist Denny Laine. Also, in less than a decade, the membership had changed three times with lead guitarists, including four different percussionists. Back in November 1980, a performance film was made theatrically that was essentially their stage show included in a documentary that was taken in 1976. Do you remember "Rock show"? Their final live set was held in Glasgow, Scotland in 1979, I wonder if he still resides in that country? *E*

Night of Entertainment -1980 How many recall April 1980, just prior to the scheduled 52 annual golden man trophies? It was the last of its kind, just before "talkative" Walters celebrity interviews became the rage. Incidently, "Kramer vs. Kramer" was the winner of the night. For many, it was an incredibly rememorable night, unlike any other then, as many people were talking about it all-morning the next day. Does that happen now? Gathering together, you would've seen Peaches and Herb, A.Gibb, and G. Kelly, being entertaining in a movie-land setting. Around that time, Olivia and Kelly were about to come out with a hyped flick. Also that night, you would've glimpsed Carpenter, Richard, and Turner. Not enough? Well, there was D.Clark, the ever popular weatherman, T. Knight, and Mister John, Mrs. Tennille, all caught up together in a one-time-only event that is still remembered today. Very cool. *E*

The Go-Gos: Head Over Heels - 1984 Retelling the days back then, by-all-accounts, they had lots of "cred" as they brought together something cool, simply being themselves. And they didn't hesitate with artistic craft either, that they 1st started in the previous decade with a whole different attitude. What was it that made them so ... well, unique? Is it because they were pretty? Yep, that'll do it. But there was something else. Think of throwing in fingers, hands, and of course effort. A first! Really. Think of that for a second. They were complete at what they did at undertaking everything. They had found a way that others lacked. And many agreed with them, they had it by taking off then. Due to this, they will never be excluded from not being determined enough to be spotted among the best. They had more than genuine interest at the time too. And they opened a way for so many more due to this. Unfortunately, they were bound to have difficulties along the way, being in the midst of those who wanted to just cut it all off. This was due to living opposite lifestyles that clashed. Quit, this was something that did occur for a short time. But they have been seen together through the most recent years. Question: Who'd be their current counterparts? Start counting. *E*
