Wuthering Heights 1939 This scene is from the classic film Wuthering Heights. It starred Sir Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. I first watched this with my mom when I was probably 9-10, but it left an impression on me to this day and I find myself watching it over and over whenever it's on. You can usually find it on AMC or TCM. This scene shows Cathy and Heathcliffe together on the Moors.

Old Hollywood Glamour Carole Landis was born on New Year's Day in 1919 and was primarily know as a B movie actress. Her busiest year ever turned out to be 1942, with roles in six films such as MANILA CALLING, THE POWERS GIRLS, and A GENTLE MAN AT HEART . . On July 5, 1948, Carole committed suicide on an overdose of Seconal in her Brentwood Heights, California home. She was only 29 and had made 49 motion pictures, unfortunately, mostly forgettable ones.

The REAL IT Girl In 1927, Clara Bow reached the heights of her popularity with the film "IT" . . . i went back and looked up her bio in Wikipedia . . the least distressing entry regarding her family had to deal with her mother, Sarah Gordon, who told Bow that acting was for prostitutes. She had also taken to sneaking up behind Bow and threatening to kill her because she felt her daughter would be better off dead. One night, she awoke to find her mother holding a butcher knife to her throat. Clara ran and locked herself in a closet until her grandmother came home. Bow suffered insomnia for the rest of her life... go figure...

Little League WS Bans Foreign Teams - 1975 If you can't beat 'em--ban 'em! The Little League World Series became a truly international event in the mid-1960s. Teams from Asia and Central America began travelling to South Wiliamsport, PA to compete against the best American teams. Embarrassingly for the Americans, the foreigners began to win regularly. So, of course, the only logical thing to do was to ban the foreigners! At the 1975 LLWS, only four teams competed--all regional champions from the U.S. Lakewood, New Jersey defeated the Belmont Heights Little League of Tampa, Florida in the championship game on August 23. This was the only LLWS in which Little League banned all non-US clubs from the tournament. After a justifiable uproar of criticism, the ban on foreign teams was rescinded the following year. An American team did not win the LLWS again until 1982. Below is a photo from the 1975 tourney, showing Wilbert Davis of Tampa scoring a run. Davis was killed in action in Iraq in 2003.
