Audie Murphy Life Cover Here is the very definition of an American hero: Audie Murphy, the most decorated American soldier of the Second World War. He was under age and undersized, but his battlefield exploits are almost beyond belief. Murphy was awarded 33 American military medals (including the Congressional Medal of Honor), five French military medals and one Belgian military medal. He was killed in a private plane accident in 1971. According to some sources, his grave at Arlington National Cemetery is the second-most visited, second only to John F. Kennedy's.

America Comes of Age Where Dreams are Born t has been called the great American Pastime. From sand lots to vacant lots, there isn't a young boy ... or girl, for that matter, that hasn't had the dream. The dream of being up to bat, in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and "touching them all" to the deafening roar of the crowd. Baseball is truly as American as Apple Pie and the Fourth of July. Where Dreams are Born is a journey back .. To when legendary ballplayers were mere mortals .. Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Bucky Harris, and Walter Johnson. The 1924/25 major league season. Ronald McDonald Back In The Day Willard Scott created the character of Ronald McDonald for a Washington DC franchise in 1963, at their request. His costume looks kinda creepy compared to todays version of Ronald. A paper cup for a nose? C'mon!!! And check out the food tray on his head.

Election Will Be Deceided Tonight For the last 17 elections, that's 68 years the game played by the Washington Redskins decides who wins the Presidential election. If the Redskins win, the party that is in office will remain in office. Right now it's is 10-6 at the half, Pittsburgh is winning. I Washington loses, Obama will win the election.

George Allen career summary I'm watching Sunday Night Football and Washington is playing their long time rival Dallas Cowboys. Something made me think of Coach George Allen.

Frank Gifford on Whats My Line New York Giants' halfback Frank Gifford appears as a regular contestant on the December 2, 1956 episode of What's My Line. Earlier that day Gifford had figured in all four the the Giants' touchdowns in the team's 28-14 victory over the Washington Redskins. Gifford was named the NFL's MVP in 1956. Panelists Dorothy Kilgallen and Arlene Francis are clearly smitten by the handsome 26-year-old gridiron star.
