WAR OF THE WORLDS 1953 Paramount Pictures gave us this great classic sci-fi film, adapted from the novel written by HG Wells in 1898. Gene Barry as Dr. Clayton Forrester, gave an outstanding performance hiding behind some rather large framed Foster Grants, and Ann Robinson, played by Sylvia Van Buren, in the supporting role helping him try to defeat the invading enemy from another planet.

Chicago Hard to Say Im Sorry 1982 The band began as a politically charged, sometimes experimental rock band and later moved to a softer sound, becoming famous for producing a number of hit ballads. They had a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Second only to the Beach Boys, Chicago, in terms of singles and albums, is one of the longest running and most successful U.S. pop/rock and roll groups. According to Billboard, Chicago was the leading U.S. singles charting group during the 1970s. In 1973 the group's manager, produced and directed Electra Glide in Blue, a movie about an Arizona motorcycle policeman. The movie starred Robert Blake, and featured Cetera, Kath, Loughnane, and Parazaider in supporting roles. The group also appeared prominently on the movie's soundtrack. 1978 was a tragic and transitional year for Chicago. The year began with an acrimonious split with long-time manager James William Guercio. Then, in late January, guitarist/singer/songwriter Terry Kath died of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound (reportedly incurred while cleaning his gun), delivering a devastating blow to the band. Another version describes Kath's drunken last words to the band: "Don't worry, guys. It isn't even loaded. See?".

Carol Burnett John Foster Dulles Song This is what put Carol Burnett on the showbiz map in 1957--her comedy song I Made A Fool Of Myself Over John Foster Dulles. (Dulles was the rather dour and boring Secretary of State at the time). Here she is performing it on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Citizen Kane Final Scene Always ranked among the greatest Hollywood movies ever made is Orson Welles' masterpiece Citizen Kane (1941). In the movie's final scene we learn what Charles Foster Kane's last word ('Rosebud') referred to. This clip has a bit of Italian dialogue dubbed into it. Pay no attention to it; it is unimportant.

Kansas City Bomber 1972 Although, this movie is not an Academy Award Winner, it has it's own type of charm. It cashed in on the Roller Derby craze of the early '70s. I had to admire Raquel Welch in this film because she actually did all of her own roller stunts.

Taxi Driver Trailer 1976 I lived in the mid-town Times Square area as a kid in the early 70's and later 76-79.This is totally the way it was in that area! They don't have a new street sign " The New 42nd Street" for no reason That area is one of the safest now in the U.S.probally because every move you make is on video in Midtown Manhattan.

Paul Henderson Goal 1972 The greatest moment in Canadian history: It's September 28, 1972. The hockey Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union comes down to the final minute of the final game in Moscow. The score is tied 5-5 after Canada rallies from a 5-3 deficit. Listen to Foster Hewitt call the final four minutes...
