Ferry Cross the Mersey Gerry and The Pacemakers were one of the few groups in the 60's to initially challenge The Beatles in popularity. Like The Beatles, they came from Liverpool and were also managed by Brian Epstein. Despite their early success, the group never had another number one single in the UK. Gerry Marsden began writing most of their own songs, including "It's Gonna Be All Right", "I'm the One", and "Ferry Cross the Mersey", as well as their first and biggest U.S. hit, "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying". All of these represented the band's light, poppy, enjoyable sound. By late 1965, their popularity was rapidly declining on both sides of the Atlantic. They lacked both the innovations of the Beatles and the rawer musical and visual edge of some of the other British Invasion groups, and they soon seemed un-hip. They disbanded in October 1966, with much of their latter recorded material never released in the UK. Drummer Freddie Marsden died on December 9, 2006, at age 66.

New York City Bike Messengers I only put this up for people that went to NYC to jar their memory. When they crossed the street, they stopped to let by, what they thought was some nut ready to hit them. 1st way to spot a tourist, and afterwards they probally saw something they thought wasn't possible on a bike!Because you threw their timing off. When in fact they have your walking pace timed for an opening between your legs if they could fit!My heroes! In my early 20's I road raced hoping for a career, found out I was average. In my late 20's I lived across the river in Bayonne took my bike over on the commuter ferry for a job interview for messenger. So before I went I fueled up (too much) to "show em' my stuff!" Never made it;Good thing because you need total focus and concentration.Besides playing & listining to music and riding like this. Nothing has given me this rush of adrenaline and dopamine.A silver medal in the olympics was won by a messenger, they mainly use track bikes with no brakes, hold on to cabs, cabbies don't mind. For that slingshot effect. And when I found out in the 80's they could make as much as $800.00 a wk. I hopped on the ferry.

Jealous Guy This is a cover version of John Lennon's song. This was the only UK. number one hit for Roxy Music. Bryan Ferry, lead singer went on to achieve more success as a solo performer and is still going.

Roxy Music Avalon Thank you Don for posting the song from Bryan Ferry. I had never heard that song before. It made me think of this song from Bryan & Roxy Music. This song instantly relaxes me. I love the music and Bryan Ferry's voice.
