My Dad asked me to watch this 'old' movie with him . . i thought it would suck! I mean, it had this lame-looking 'spaceman' with his protector, Gort. Boy was i wrong! This classic stars Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, and Sam Jaffe and tells the story of a humanoid alien who comes to Earth to warn its leaders not to take their conflicts into space, or they will face lethal consequences (it even has "Aunt Bee" from the Andy Griffiths Show!!)

Robert Wise, producer and director of such blockbuster films as The Sand Pebbles, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, The Hindenburg, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Run Silent, Run Deep, The Andromeda Strain, The Set-Up, The Haunting, and The Body Snatcher. Here is a clip from West Side Story, Officer Krumpke. I directed this scene as part of my final grade in my senior year drama class, and it was the first time I discovered the rush of creating something that people would enjoy. It was great! Excuse the subtitles, I guess some people can't understand Brooklynese.

Hundreds of millions of children and adults have been entranced by the magic that was Jim Henson. He had the most profound influence on children of any entertainer of his time, he adapted the ancient art of puppetry to the most modern of mediums, television, transforming both; he created a TV show that was one of the most popular on earth. But Jim Henson's greatest achievement was broader than any of those. Through his work, he helped sustain the qualities of fancifulness, warmth and consideration that have been so threatened by our coarse, cynical age. He was another of those very special individuals who gave us a reason to smile through some very tough years.

We all enjoy bringing back memories of the music, films, news, etc that were and still continue to be a part of our lives, but how many times do any of us stop and remember the world we live in, the natural beauty that surrounds us. Every area on the globe has it's own natural beauty, and I think it would be great if we could all share in each other's hometowns, or even the special places we have enjoyed visiting. Remember, the most precious part of our lives, and our children's lives is the earth beneath our feet. There's a certain part of the US that I have always wanted to visit, New England. So here's a tribute to the beauty and historic legacy of New England; Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island.

Happy Birthday to Sally Field!
Sally is the daughter of actress Margaret Field and step-father Jock Mahoney, also an actor as well as a stuntman. Sally managed to finish high school, but early on it was clear she would follow in her parents' footsteps, and she soon got the lead role in the 1965 TV series "Gidget", quickly followed by "The Flying Nun" which ran from 1967-1970. American was in love with her wholesome, girl-next-door persona. The role that got Sally noticed as a more serious dramatic actress, was her portrayal of the title character in the TV movie Sybil, a woman suffering from a multiple personality disorder. The part won her an Emmy in the Best Actress category in 1976. Hollywood now saw Sally Field as more than just a pretty face. She had raw talent they were more than happy to exploit. But Sally didn't altogether abondon her comedic side and proved this by starring opposite Burt Reynolds in the two Smokey And The Bandit films. Nevertheless, her best work came through in dramatic roles, and Sally went on to win Oscars in the Best Actress category for both Norma Rae and Places In The Heart. Aside from acting, she has also produced and directed several projects for television, including directing an episode of the acclaimed mini-series, From The Earth To The Moon.
Sally has two sons from her first marriage, Peter and Eli. And Samuel, from her second marriage.

This band is so awesome!! On September 18, 2005, they performed this hit as part of an opening act showing memorable television moments from the 2004-2005 season for the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS, and for the past two years, they've been touring in a wildly successful double bill with the band Chicago for unforgettable evenings in which both bands play separately, then come together for a grand finale switching off on each other's tunes.
