Martha Jane Canary-Burke In her later years, Calamity Jane appeared in Wild West shows, including the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show, around the country, featuring her riding and shooting skills. But her chronic drunkenness and fighting caused many problems, and after she was fired in 1901 from a show, she retired to Deadwood, where she died of pneumonia. they forgot to mention that in the Doris Day movie.

STEPHEN KING The Movies This clip sums up the history of King's work made into films thus far. Stephen King is my favorite author, and I love reading anything I can find about him, here is some trivia I thought would be of interest to anyone who appreciates this master of horror. He once revealed that he is suffering from macular degeneration, a currently incurable condition which will most likely lead to blindness. His estimated annual salary is $40 million. He created his pseudonym Richard Bachman by reading a novel by Donald E. Westlake, whose pseudonym is Richard Stark, while listening to Bachman-Turner Overdrive. And much like Hitchock, he likes to have cameos in his movies. He scored in the 1300s on the SAT. He wrote "The Running Man", a 304 page novel, in only ten days. His favorite personal horror movie is Tourist Trap (1979), and his favorite film is Of Unknown Origin (1983) He is an avid Red Sox fan. Before the Sox won the 2004 World Series, he said he wanted his tombstone epitaph to be a single sock and the line "Not In My Lifetime, Not In Yours, Either." He is the most successful American writer in history. He often listens to hard rock music during the time he writes to get inspired and also plays in a rock band. A recovering alcoholic, he wrote in his book "On Writing" that he was drunk virtually the whole time of writing the book "Cujo" and to this day barely remembers writing any of it. In the 1980's he was battling a cocaine addiction. At one time his wife, Tabitha, organized a group of family and friends and confronted him. She dumped his trashcan onto the floor, which included beer cans, cigarette butts, cough and cold medicines and various drug paraphernalia. Her message to him was "Get help or get out. We love you, but we don't want to witness your suicide." He got help and was able to become clean and sober. And finally, on playing the role of Jordy Verrill in Creepshow he said, "If I had written it for myself, I would have put in at least one sex scene!"

I Love Lucy Premieres October 15th 1951 Here's just some of the interesting trivia surrounding this legendary show. Benaderet and Gale Gordon were Lucy and Desi's first choice to play the Mertzes. Gale Gordon was the first choice to play Fred Mertz, but he was unavailable. When they came across William Frawley, Desi Arnaz wanted him, but he was told that Frawley would be a poor choice because he was a womanizer, a gambler, and a drunk. Arnaz said, "He's perfect!" Desi Arnaz invented the rerun during the pregnancy episodes of this series by re-airing some episodes from the first season to give Lucy some rest. When Lucy was pregnant with Little Ricky, network censors wouldn't permit her to say "pregnant." She had to say "expectant". The full names of Fred and Ethel are Fredrick Hobart Mertz and Ethel Louise Roberta Mae Potter Mertz Because of limited space on the sound stage, the Ricardo's bedroom and the Mertz's living room is the same set with different furniture. Desi Arnaz Jr. appears in the final first-run episode of the series. Although his sister, Lucie Arnaz, for some reason, doesn't. The Ricardos' address was 623 E. 68th Street. However, E. 68th Street in Manhattan only goes up to 600 - which means that the Ricardos' building was in the middle of the East River. Three "flashback" episodes were shown during the period when Lucille Ball was recovering after giving birth to Desi Arnaz Jr.. These episodes were filmed in advance after Ball found out she was pregnant. Although they slept in twin beds throughout the entire run of the series, during the first two seasons of the show, 1951-1953, Ricky and Lucy slept in twin beds that were pushed together in the same box spring. Once little Ricky was born CBS suggested that the beds be pushed apart to diminish the impact of the suggested sexual history of Lucy and Ricky. The only time we see the Ricardo's in two bed pushed together again is when they first move to the bigger apartment in the Mertz building, however, subsequently after that the beds are pushed apart again.

Chicago Hard to Say Im Sorry 1982 The band began as a politically charged, sometimes experimental rock band and later moved to a softer sound, becoming famous for producing a number of hit ballads. They had a steady stream of hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Second only to the Beach Boys, Chicago, in terms of singles and albums, is one of the longest running and most successful U.S. pop/rock and roll groups. According to Billboard, Chicago was the leading U.S. singles charting group during the 1970s. In 1973 the group's manager, produced and directed Electra Glide in Blue, a movie about an Arizona motorcycle policeman. The movie starred Robert Blake, and featured Cetera, Kath, Loughnane, and Parazaider in supporting roles. The group also appeared prominently on the movie's soundtrack. 1978 was a tragic and transitional year for Chicago. The year began with an acrimonious split with long-time manager James William Guercio. Then, in late January, guitarist/singer/songwriter Terry Kath died of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound (reportedly incurred while cleaning his gun), delivering a devastating blow to the band. Another version describes Kath's drunken last words to the band: "Don't worry, guys. It isn't even loaded. See?".

ABBA Happy New Year Since many people will be out celebrating tonight, I wanted to be the first to wish everone a very Happy and Safe New Year! This is the version that most people just call: 'ABBA around the piano'. Actually, 'Happy New Year' is a song from their 1980 album, 'Super Trouper'. The song's working title was humourously called 'Daddy Don't Get Drunk On Christmas Day'.

Would This Make You Stop Drinking or Start Here's a group of obviously disgruntled women. Between 1830 and 1840, most temperance organizations began to argue that the only way to prevent drunkenness was to eliminate the consumption of alcohol. The Temperance Society became the Abstinence Society. The Independent Order of Good Templars, the Sons of Temperance, the Templars of Honor and Temperance, the Anti-Saloon League, the National Prohibition Party and other groups were formed and grew rapidly. With the passage of time, "The temperance societies became more and more extreme in the measures they championed. "He who does not love wine, wife, and song will be a fool his whole life long" — a vigorous 1873 assertion of cultural values of German-American immigrantsWhile it began by advocating the temperate or moderate use of alcohol, the movement now insisted that no one should be permitted to drink any alcohol in any quantity. It did so with religious fervor and increasing convictions.

Actor Bob Anderson Passes Today Bob Anderson, who played the young George Bailey in the Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life," has died. He was 75. Anderson died Friday of cancer at his home in Palm Springs, his wife, Victoria, said Saturday. he was best known for his role as the young Bailey in Frank Capra's 1946 "It's a Wonderful Life," the same character portrayed in adulthood by James Stewart. In one scene, the story called for him to spot a potentially fatal error made by a drunken druggist, played by H.B. Warner. Warner took the role seriously and on the day of shooting had been drinking and was "pretty ripe," Victoria Anderson said. The scene called for Warner's character to slap the boy. Anderson told the Los Angeles Times in 1996 that the scene and its rehearsals were painful. "He actually bloodied my ear," Anderson told the paper. "My ear was beat up and my face was red, and I was in tears." "At the end when it was all over, he (Warner) was very lovable. He grabbed me and hugged me, and he meant it," Anderson said.

All The Young Dudes written by David Bowie "Well Billy rapped all night about his suicide How he'd kick it in the head when he was 25. Speed jive. Don't wanna stay alive when you're 25. And Wendy's stealing clothes from Marks & Sparks And Freddie's got spots from ripping off the stars from his face. Funky little boat race. The television man is crazy Saying we're juvenile delinquent wrecks. I need T.V. when I got T-Rex. Oh brother, you guessed, I'm a dude now. Well, I drunk a lot of wine and I'm feeling fine. Gonna race some cat to bed. Oh man, is this concrete all around Or is it all in my head. Brother, I'm a dude now.
