The Governor and JJ These are the opening and closing credits for the CBS sitcom The Governor and J.J. The show ran from September 23, 1969 to December 30, 1970. It starred Dan Dailey as Governor William Drinkwater, a widower, and Julie Sommars, as his daughter J.J. (Jennifer Jo) who served as his official hostess when she was not working at the zoo. It was one of the few 1960s sitcoms that was filmed before a live audience. It is mostly remembered today as the answer to a TV trivia question: What sitcom was replaced midway through the 1970-71 season by All in The Family?

My Three Sons opening credits This familar TV theme ought to bring back memories. This happens to be the opening of the first-ever My Three Sons episode, in 1960. The show ran an amazing 12 years and went through many cast changes. The pre-1965 black and white episodes are seldom seen these days. My favorite cast member was the beautiful Tina Cole who played Katie. She was adorable! Whatever became of her?

Supertrain Anyone remember Supertrain? NBC had high hopes for this TV series about an atomic-powered train that could travel across the country in 36 hours. It had one of the most expensive sets ever designed for a TV series. Vacillating between comedy and drama, the series never attracted much of a following. It lasted only five months before being derailed in 1979. Here are the show's opening credits.

Robin Hood TV show 1955 to 1960 The Adventures of Robin Hood was a popular, long-running British television series that also aired in the US, starring Richard Greene as Robin Hood. Back in the early days of television, commercials were often built into the stories, as well as the opening and closing credits of the shows. This is an example of how it was done in the 1950's.

Actor Heath Ledger Dies at 28 Heath Ledger was found dead today, Jan 22, 2008, at a downtown Manhattan residence in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there found him dead at 3:26 p.m. The Australian-born actor was an Oscar nominee for his role in "Brokeback Mountain" and has numerous other screen credits. Very, very sad.

The Paul Lynde Show After the cancellation of Bewitched in the summer of 1972, that autumn ABC gave Paul Lynde a starring role in his own sitcom--aptly named The Paul Lynde Show. Lynde played high-strung lawyer Paul Simms. The show vaguely resembled All in the Family as Paul frequently locked horns with his lazy son-in-law who seemed to shun any sort of work ethic. Slotted against The Carol Burnett Show and Adam-12, The Paul Lynde Show failed to capture a significant viewing audience and was cancelled after just one season. (Lynde was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor in a sitcom, nevertheless.) Here's the show's opening credits.
