Actor Brad Renfro Dies at 25 Actor Brad Renfro, whose career began promisingly with a childhood role in 'The Client', but rapidly faded as he struggled with drugs and alcohol, was found dead Tuesday, January 15th, 2008, in his home. He was 25. Paramedics pronounced him dead at 9 a.m., said Craig Harvey, chief investigator for the Los Angeles County coroner's office. The cause of death was not immediately determined, Harvey said, but an autopsy could be conducted as early as Wednesday. Renfro had reportedly been drinking with friends the evening before his death, Harvey said. His lawyer, Richard Kaplan, said he did not know whether the death was connected to any problems with addiction. 'He was working hard on his sobriety,' Kaplan said. 'He was doing well. He was a nice person.' Renfro recently completed a role in "The Informers," a film adaptation of a Bret Easton Ellis novel that stars Winona Ryder, Brandon Routh and Billy Bob Thornton. 'Brad was an exceptionally talented young actor and our time spent with him was thoroughly enjoyable,' Marco Weber, president of the film's production house, Senator Entertainment, said in a statement. This clip is from the film 'The Cure', which was released in 1995.

Documents and Other Evidence from JFK Assassination Plot Revealed Today Brass knuckles and a pistol holster that were in Jack Ruby's possession at the time of his arrest after he murdered Lee Harvey Oswald were presented along with other historical documents and memorabilia connected to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy during a press conference in Dallas today. Long-hidden items and documents related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy were revealed for the first time after spending nearly two decades locked inside a courthouse safe. Dallas County DA Craig Watkins presented the articles at a Presidents' Day news conference while standing next to brown and white file boxes stacked in a pyramid. The items include a purported transcript between Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and Oswald's killer, nightclub owner Jack Ruby; a leather gun holster that held the weapon Ruby used to shoot Oswald; brass knuckles found on Ruby when he was arrested; and a movie contract signed by then-Dallas District Attorney Henry Wade. Watkins said investigators told him about the contents of the blue, two-door safe shortly after he took office in 2007. 'And every DA up until the new administration decided that they wanted to keep it secret,' he said. But he decided 'this information was too important to keep secret.' One of the most intriguing items was the typed transcript of an alleged conversation between Oswald and Ruby. The transcript - which hasn't been examined by experts and has already been called farfetched by some - includes talk of killing the president at the behest of the Mafia.

Batgirl - Test Episode (1967) Here we have now William Dozier's 'Batgirl' on YRT. But this is a bit different. It's a rare look at a proposed 1967 series featuring the character of Batgirl in her own show. Creator William Dozier was responsible for 'Batman' at the time, and the 'Green Hornet' television show. "Green Hornet" incidently is being remade as of now for the theaters. In this Dozier 'Batman' spin-off, Dozier did the voice-over for this trial-run, as well as adding his familiar narration for 'Batman' and the unsold pilot for 'Wonder Woman' you've seen already on YRT. In this show, libarian Barbara Gordon is Batgirl, alias real-life 1960s actress Yvonne Craig. Batman, the series had Yvonne Craig appear to appeal to the younger crowd, and bringing a boost for the important ratings for advertisers. Unfortunately, 'Batman' had run its course by that point. Ratings were high the first season, but the hype was fading fast. So, producer Williams showed ABC television execs that this Batgirl program was going to be as big as Batman. Williams made this 8 eight-minute test using the Batman sets and regular actors, including Neil Hamilton as the Commissioner to show those responsible for giving it the "go-ahead" for a new weekly series. It never happened. What did happen is that NBC was interested in keeping the series going, but ABC Television had destoyed the studio set pieces too quickly, far before the move-over was ever considered. *E*

Petticoat Junction TV Guide Cover This must be from 1968 or 1969: The cast of Petticoat Junction grace the cover of TV Guide. Note that June Lockhart is shown. Her character, Dr. Janet Craig, replaced Bea Benaderet's character, Kate Bradley, after Benaderet died in October 1968. Good rule of thumb: If the opening credits to Petticoat Junction come on and June Lockhart walks onto the porch of the Shady Rest, change the channel.
