The very first Happy Meal in 1979 was the Circus Wagon Happy Meal. It cost one dollar and contained either a McDoodler stencil, a puzzle book, a McWrist wallet, an ID bracelet or McDonaldland character erasers. The original Happy Meal consisted of a hamburger or cheeseburger, twelve-ounce soft drink, a small order of french fries, and a "McDonaldland Cookie Sampler", a small portion of cookies.

An early TV cooking demonstration featuring Martha Brooks.
The TV station WRGB began experimental broadcasts in 1928. In the early 1940's, Brooks starred in the station's (and, some believe, the nation's) first commercially-sponsored television program, "Keeping Your Home Shipshape." For this role Brooks assumed another alias, Mrs. Ima Fixit. She starred on the program opposite a puppet created by Joe Owens.

This was a decent enough 70's sitcom, that aired on Thursdays at 8:30pm on ABC, starring Donna Pescow, Robert Hayes, and Doris Roberts. Even back then Doris was cast as the opinionated, outspoken Italian mother, who spent most of her time in the kitchen cooking pasta. Of course, her character was molded from real life because most Italian mothers are exactly like this. Ahhh, some things never change.

But Landis did it via a combination of personality and a face and body that would cost a fortune to buy today. I've looked all over for this scene and finally found it. Made in 1954, Nicky (Arnaz) and Tacy Collini (Ball) are going to be married. Nicky wants to save up money for a house, but Tacy dreams of starting off with their own home on wheels...a trailer. After the two are hitched, they hitch up their trailer and begin their honeymoon. The humor comes from several disastrous adventures they have while traveling, including Tacy's awkward attempt to cook dinner in a moving trailer, and a cliffhanging ride through the mountains that nearly destroys their marriage. Lucy was perfect as usual, and I die laughing every time I watch this.
