This scene is from the classic film Wuthering Heights. It starred Sir Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. I first watched this with my mom when I was probably 9-10, but it left an impression on me to this day and I find myself watching it over and over whenever it's on. You can usually find it on AMC or TCM. This scene shows Cathy and Heathcliffe together on the Moors.

Entertainment legend, inventor of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune Merv Griffin passed away today at the age of 82.
Notice Merv's natural interviewing style as he speaks with Buddy Rich and Cathy Rich on his Merv Griffin Show.

Evelyn Couch (Kathy Bates) is having trouble in her marriage, and no one seems to take her seriously. While in a nursing home visiting relatives, she meets Ninny Threadgoode (Jessica Tandy), an outgoing old woman, who tells her the story of Idgie Threadgoode, a young woman in 1920's Alabama. Through Idgie's inspiring life, Evelyn learns to be more assertive and builds a lasting friendship of her own with Ninny. This film should be required viewing for any woman over 30. Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy are both outstanding and unforgettable.
I love, love, love this film!! (sorry about the sync)

This song, sung by Rolf Harris was a number 1 hit from 1969, staying there for 6 weeks. This, I think, should be added to the sappy songs category that Cathy started and is doing such a good job on.

OK Cathy beat this one. Clive Dunn, Better known for his role in the series Dads Army, took this into the British charts and believe it or not spent three weeks at no.1 in 1971. He was known for his great character acting and had only been in his early forties when he made this.

Mark Dinning's recording efforts met with limited success until 1960, when he recorded 'Teen Angel' as a 45rpm single, that was written by his sister Jean and her husband Red Surrey. The lyrics told of the death of a teenage love that radio stations in the United Kingdom deemed too morbid to be aired, but it went to #1 on the Billboard Charts in the United States. Although he never duplicated the success of "Teen Angel", he had three minor hit records in the following years and continued to perform in the music industry until his unexpected death at the age of fifty-two from a heart attack in Jefferson City, Missouri in 1986.
Cathy, you will definitely find this on that long road to sappiness.

I can hear Cathy now....'so sappy!!' lol Yes, I agree, but it's also a beautiful tribute that expresses how fortunate we are when we have one friend who is always there to love us and accept us, even when we screw up. This is for that friend.
