One may think they are abnormal, but on the contrary, it's The Hudson Brothers in their only motion picture "Hysterical." The three satirically funny brothers had just come off a decade of success with network television, and releasing popular music albums. This comedy/monster movie was 1930s slapstick humour aimed at their fans.*E*

Saturday mornings, 'The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show' entertained viewers for one year, beginning in the fall of 1974. It was filmed in Canada and shown across North America. The thirty-minute Saturday program used some of the perfomers from 'The Sonny and Cher Show'. The Hudson Brothers were also known to have had their own evening sixty-minute variety show on the same network that year. The successful 1960s/70s brotherly group had a number of singles that got them airplay on AM radio. There was an association with well-known Bernie Taupin, who produced some of their compositions. The summer evening variety show 'The Hudson Brothers Show' on the same network was seen for about five weeks only. This Razzle Dazzle theme has got to be one of the longest show introductions ever! In the United Kingdom, the brothers appeared on a variety show in 1978 called 'Bonkers!' The British program was actually aired for a few years in syndication. This other variety program was also shown for American audiences for a short time.
They followed that work with opportunities 'behind the scenes' years after. *E*

Today's entertainment critic, Gene Shalit hosts a segment of this 1981 interview where Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi talk about their Blues Brothers band, a new film release, "Neighbors," which was a very dark comedy for both. A movie about neighboring residents. Now, it is all smiles on television, but on the film set, that was totally different.
Many unorganized troubles with the film with shooting it. Like what? Like everything. Script rewrites. Behavior problems. Complaints about the storyline. A switch of the actors in their roles. It was turning out to be a unfunny mess. "Neighbors" was heavily edited aswell, just before being released in December of '81. The movie made money as it had a good advertising campaign from the film studio that produced it. March of 1982, a few months after this interview was conducted, the comedian passed.

On July 6, 1944, 168 people perished in a big-top fire in Hartford, CT while attending a performance of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus. The circus tent had been treated with a combination of paraffin and gasoline for waterproofing, causing the tent to burn rapidly. The cause of the fire is unknown. Careless smoking is considered the most likely cause, though some people suspect arson. Many of those who died were trampled by the fleeing crowd. Others simply refused to leave the burning tent until they had located their friends and family. Circuses were banned in Connecticut for many years afterward. Among the 6,700 people who survived the blaze were famed clown Emmett Kelly, future Connecticut lieutenant governor Eunice Groark, and 13-year-old spectator Charles Nelson Reilly.

Way back in the 1950's, a company called Lever Brothers brought out this cool tasting toothpaste called "Stripe" onto the city-suburbanite market.
Many already were aware of various brands already established; "Colgate-Palmolive" and their highly known toothpaste, they were one of the prime sellers of tooth products at the time on television. The Lever Brothers wanted to get a piece of the pie in sales with their brand. In those days, everyone was buying Colgate's Dental Cream due to the informative commercials being repeated often to informative seeking viewers. Another brand, Procter & Gamble's "Crest" was as well a high selling product at the time. Choices were already out on the selling market thanks to the increase of television sales in the 1950s.
Stripe got into the advertising game by sponsoring the 1959-1960 season of "The George Gobel Show", which turned out to be his last year on air with this show. With advertising, there was money to be made with showing products on highly viewed television showings. it was a proven factor in market testing around the country of America.
Another competititor on television was
Lever's "Lux" on Jack Benny's weekly show. It was in 1961 that Stripe had to make some changes due to its heavy competition. The outer box was repackaged to copy Colgate's toothpaste, and the company focused on the homemakers instead to win over new sales to families. Utilizing television was what drove sales in the early years of broadcasting.

Here is the successful Australian group the Bee Gee's with their hit single "Lonely Days". This performance in from the year 1975; showing all three brothers how they became more and more popular throughtout the seventies thanks to televised household exposure on programs such as this one. Originally recorded in 1970 with reknown producer Robert Stigwood, the "Lonely Days" recording really made a name for themselves amongst worldwide radio listeners, especially on the all-important American market. Sales figures on Bee Gees albums rose, with much thanks from their loyal fans who heard their harmonies vary on each album. With having such popularity, the three's continuity went right into the 1990s and beyond.
The Bee Gees have maintained their name in our song-driven pop-culture due to listenership from dedicated fans. Remember, the "oldschool" feeling is always 24/7 with me.
