Strolling Bowling I first saw this on a Johnny Carson show in the early '80s. I don't know who invented it but Carson had him on the show with it. When the fellow wound up the bowling ball, it kind of leaned forward and then quickly hopped down the lane and knocked over the pins. I laughed for a good long time after seeing that. Strolling bowling has been re-issued and you can get them once again online. It's great taking it out once in a while to show friends. They get a kick out of watching it hop down the lane. (I don't really "play" with any of the few vintage toys that I own. I don't think that's a good idea with vintage toys that have wind-up springs. I just basically show friends that they still work.)

Johnny Quest Cartoon Opening Sequence 60s credit to RetroJunk dot Com An action packed cartoon that I watched on Saturday mornings in the 60s while eating my bowl of Crap N' Crunch cereal! What ever became of Johnny Quest, Dr. Benton Quest, Race Bannon and Hadji? Little did they know what the future had in store for them. Poor Dr. Quest died in prison after being convicted of the illegal use of nuclear material in direct violation of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Race Bannon is now suffering from brain damage after taking one too many blows to the head, is in a nursing home and has to have this Depends changed hourly; and sadly, poor Johnny Quest lost his job and it was sent to India due to corporate greed, Americans wanting more money for doing less work and the flood of illegal immigrants from Mexico coming to the United States. Distraught, Johnny Quest had no choice but to immigrate to India to find work where he now works for Hadji at a Calcutta call center owned by an American company validating rebates for Salad Shooters for a few Rubles a day. Bandit is in doggy heaven after dying of natural causes in 1974.

Mystery Science Theatre did u watch? Crow T Robot. . Gypsy. . and Tom Servo? Tom Servo is a red puppet that has a gumball machine (Carousel Executive Snack Dispenser) for a head, a body composed of a toy "Money Lover Barrel" coin bank and a toy car engine block, and a bowl-shaped hovercraft skirt (a Halloween 'Boo Bowl') instead of legs. Because of this, he must be carried into the theater by Joel or Mike, as there is a grate near the door that he can't hover over. His arms are a pair of small white ventriloquist's dummy hands on the ends of springs that are not really functional as arms, a point that is commented on occasionally throughout the series. Some episodes feature Tom with objects already in his hands, raising the unanswered question of how they got there; possibly Servo's arms are only functional on a sporadic basis. His shoulders are made from the front of an Eveready Floating Lantern. Because Servo's head is transparent, chromakeyed images appear projected through it, and thus a second puppet was built for use in the theater segments, entirely spray-painted black.

Mean Joe Greene Coke commercial One of my favorite commercials: A Coke ad featuring Mean Joe Greene of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It first aired during the 1980 Super Bowl.

1939 Rose Bowl Program I love this program for two reasons: First, it's simply beautiful. Second, it's from one of my favorite sports events in history--the 1939 Rose Bowl game. Going into the game, Duke University had won every one of its football games in 1938 by shutout. They led USC 3-0 until the final minute when the Trojans got a late touchdown and won 7-3. How heartbreaking would that loss have been?

Id Like to Buy the World a Coke In the 1970s, market research showed that consumers preferred the taste of Pepsi over Coke. The Pepsi Challenge is still being conducted today. But Coke came up with what is arguably the best of all cola commercials, the 1971 I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke ad. This landmark was recalled in Christmas versions in 1983 and 1984, and a 1990 Super Bowl ad, which was enough to make some Baby Boomers weep with nostalgia
