Grace Patricia Kelly was born in Philadelphia on Nov 12, 1929. As a young child, Grace decided she wanted to become an actress, and studied acting (primarily theater) at the American Academy of Dramatic Art and worked as an actress and model in New York before moving to Hollywood. When she was in New York, Grace promoted Old Gold cigarettes and appeared on the covers of magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Redbook. Grace debuted in the film 14 Hours, in a minor supporting role, but then starred in High Noon, in which she was cast as a mousey Quaker bride. She then appeared in Mogambo with Clark Gable, which won her an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. Her work in High Noon and a screen test for the film Taxi caught the attention of director Alfred Hitchcock, who molded Grace into his ideal of the elegant, beautiful blonde. She gave Hitchcock wonderful performances in Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, and To Catch a Thief. But Grace went against Hitchcock's vision of her for the film The Country Girl, which won her the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role of 1954. The success of the song in this clip, True Love, performed by Grace and Bing Crosby, is from the film High Society, which earned her a gold record. In 1956, she was voted the Golden Globe's World Film Favorite Female Actor. In 1956, she married Prince Rainier Grimaldi III of Monaco to become Her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco. Because of her royalty, she was forced to give up her successful acting career, in which she made eleven films. She had three children: Caroline, Albert, and Stephanie. Grace died on September 14, 1982, after her car went off a road on the cliffs of Monaco.
Rest in peace Grace, we'll never forget you.

Video for the Honky Tonk Angels, featuring kd lang, Loretta Lyn, Kitty Wells and Brenda Lee, and produced by Owen Bradley for kd's album Shadowland. kd lang, who was born in Edmonton Alberta Canada, was first drawn to country music when she attended college. Soon, she became fascinated with the life and music of Patsy Cline and ultimately determined to pursue a career as a professional singer. Lang formed a Patsy Cline tribute band called the Reclines in 1983, and they recorded a debut album, Friday Dance Promenade. A follow-up album, A Truly Western Experience, was released in 1984 and received strong reviews which led to national attention in Canada. Singing at country and western venues in Canada, she made several recordings that earned a 1985 Canadian Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist. Her career received a huge boost when Roy Orbison chose her to record a duet of his standard, "Crying". Instead of being overwhelmed by the power of Orbison's voice, the two blended their vocal ranges into a collaboration that won them the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
1988 marked the release of Shadowland, an album of torch country produced by the legendary Owen Bradley.

In concert 1970 with the environmentalist "Big Yellow Taxi". Joni Mitchell, was born Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7, 1943, in Fort Macleod, Alberta. She is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and painter. Her
singing began in small nightclubs and busking on the streets of Toronto and in her native Western Canada. She subsequently became associated with the fast growing folk music scene of the mid-1960s in New York City. Later, while she was playing one night in "The Gaslight South", a club in Florida, David Crosby walked in and was immediately struck by her ability and her appeal as an artist. He took her back to Los Angeles, where he set about introducing her and her music to his friends. Mitchell achieved fame in the late 1960's and was considered a key part of the Southern California folk rock scene. Throughout the 1970's, she explored and combined the pop and jazz genres. She's amassed a body of work that is highly respected by both critics and fellow musicians.

The Hollywood blacklist, was the mid-20th Century list of screenwriters, actors, directors, musicians, and other U.S. entertainment professionals who were denied employment in the field because of their political beliefs or associations, real or suspected. Artists were barred from work on the basis of their alleged membership in or sympathy toward the American Communist Party, involvement in liberal or simply humanitarian political causes that enforcers of the blacklist associated with communism, and/or refusal to assist federal investigations into Communist Party activities. Some were blacklisted merely because their names came up at the wrong place and time. Even during the period of its strictest enforcement, the late 1940s through the late 1950s, the blacklist was rarely made explicit and verifiable, but it caused direct damage to the careers of scores of American artists, often made betrayal of friendship, not to mention principle, the price for a livelihood, and promoted ideological censorship across the entire industry. Pictured are Front row (from left): Herbert Biberman, attorneys Martin Popper and Robert W. Kenny, Albert Maltz, Lester Cole. Middle row: writer Dalton Trumbo, John Howard Lawson, Alvah Bessie, Samuel Ornitz. Back row: Ring Lardner Jr., Edward Dmytryk, Adrian Scott.
