The story of Irish-Italian American, Henry Hill, and how he lived his day to day life as a member of the Mafia. This film was actually based on the true story of Henry Hill, who was eventually placed in the witness protection program. Bobby DeNiro gave an awesome performance, as did Joe Peschi, in fact the entire cast gave a really believable performance of how it was being involved with La Familia back in the 50's and 60's. I sometimes forget that they were only acting.
Everytime I watch this I find myself getting hungry, there are a couple of scenes where Henry is putting together a great Italian meal, and I don't think there's an Italian out there who's been able to sit and watch this without wishing for some pasta and sausage.

This clip sums up the history of King's work made into films thus far.
Stephen King is my favorite author, and I love reading anything I can find about him, here is some trivia I thought would be of interest to anyone who appreciates this master of horror.
He once revealed that he is suffering from macular degeneration, a currently incurable condition which will most likely lead to blindness.
His estimated annual salary is $40 million.
He created his pseudonym Richard Bachman by reading a novel by Donald E. Westlake, whose pseudonym is Richard Stark, while listening to Bachman-Turner Overdrive. And much like Hitchock, he likes to have cameos in his movies.
He scored in the 1300s on the SAT.
He wrote "The Running Man", a 304 page novel, in only ten days.
His favorite personal horror movie is Tourist Trap (1979), and his favorite film is Of Unknown Origin (1983)
He is an avid Red Sox fan. Before the Sox won the 2004 World Series, he said he wanted his tombstone epitaph to be a single sock and the line "Not In My Lifetime, Not In Yours, Either."
He is the most successful American writer in history.
He often listens to hard rock music during the time he writes to get inspired and also plays in a rock band.
A recovering alcoholic, he wrote in his book "On Writing" that he was drunk virtually the whole time of writing the book "Cujo" and to this day barely remembers writing any of it.
In the 1980's he was battling a cocaine addiction. At one time his wife, Tabitha, organized a group of family and friends and confronted him. She dumped his trashcan onto the floor, which included beer cans, cigarette butts, cough and cold medicines and various drug paraphernalia. Her message to him was "Get help or get out. We love you, but we don't want to witness your suicide." He got help and was able to become clean and sober.
And finally, on playing the role of Jordy Verrill in Creepshow he said, "If I had written it for myself, I would have put in at least one sex scene!"

Locked in a school closet during Halloween 1962, young Frank Scarlotti witnesses the ghost of a young girl and the man who murdered her years ago. Shortly afterward he finds himself stalked by the killer and is soon drawn to an old house where a mysterious Lady In White lives. As he discovers the secret of the woman, he soon finds that the killer may be someone close to him. This is a 1988 film that never received a lot of attention, but it was one terrific story, a kind of fantasy/mystery all wrapped up into one very good film.
I haven't seen it on TV for several years, but if you happen to see it advertised, make it a point to watch it, you won't be sorry. It starred Lucas Haas and Kathryn Hellmond.

It's 1955, you and your family are all seated around your brand new twelve inch color TV. Mom made snacks, which are sitting on top of TV trays, (all the rage). This is a momentous occasion. Tonight, you will witness a magical event, a live broadcast of Peter Pan, straight from Broadway. It has music, adventure and best of all it's in color thanks to the NBC peacock. The production also starred Cyril Ritchard as Hook, and Sondra Lee as Tiger Lily with Lynn Fontanne.

PJ Proby was born James Marcus Smith in Houston TX, 11/06/38. I don't know what show this was from, but "Hold Me" was a big hit for Proby in 1964. There's a story about him that goes something like this: PJ was known for his exhausting visional stage performances. It was one of these performances on January 29, 1965, at Fairfield Hall, Croydon in London that Proby, who was the first male ever to wear his hair in a pony tail in the last century at least, burst out of his skin tight velvet bell-bottoms doing his act, based on the black shows he had been used to attending in the rougher areas of Downtown LA. He explained to the frantic press that the ripped clothing was an accident due to the weak velvet material, but when two days later the same thing again happened, the audiences were wild with excitement, as they had never witnessed such body movement onstage or such provocative mood and they loved him. However, the British system that governs the music scene was less enthusiastic. PJ was banned from all theaters in Great Britain and not allowed to perform his recordings on the B.B.C. or A.T.V. television stations. By February 24th, Proby was unable to perform almost anywhere although he was headline news in every newspaper.

yes, it's Sarah Michelle Gellar in a 1981 commercial for Burger King...
This commercial led to a lawsuit against Burger King, ad agency J. Walter Thompson, and Gellar herself, who appeared in court as a witness for the defense. The dispute was eventually settled out of court...

Sex scandals involving evangelists are not new. The first one occurred back in 1926, when the leading radio evangelist of the day, Aimee Semple McPherson, was allegedly involved in a doozy with a married man. On May 18, 1926, the 35-year-old McPherson arrived at Ocean Park Beach in California with her secretary for a day of swimming. Shortly after their arrival, McPherson disappeared. McPherson's mother delivered a sermon that night in place of Aimee and informed the congregation that Aimee was 'with Jesus.' The following day, hundreds of concerned parishioners ventured to Ocean Park Beach to look for their beloved Sister Aimee. One parishioner drowned and another died of exposure in the unsuccessful search. Not long after Aimee vanished, Kenneth G. Ormiston, the married engineer of the radio station McPherson owned, also disappeared. Five weeks later, Aimee emerged from the Mexican desert in a town just across the border from Douglas, Arizona. She claimed she had been kidnapped, drugged, tortured, and held for ransom in a shack. Aimee further stated she had escaped from her captors and walked 13 hours through the desert to freedom. Her story was implausible, to say the least. No shack was ever found. Aimee's shoes showed no signs of a 13-hour desert trek. (Moreover, they had grass stains on them!) She was last seen wearing a bathing suit, but reappeared in a dress and wearing a wristwatch she hadn't taken to the beach. Several witnesses claimed they had seen McPherson with Ormiston at various motels during the 35 days she was missing. McPherson and her mother were eventually charged with obstruction of justice, but the charges were dropped early the following year.
