Anna Kournikova Ah, yes...adorable Anna Kournikova! She was the Russian tennis goddess with the incredible good looks and the incredibly mediocre record. Anna reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 1997 at the age of 16--and never did much after that. Despite never having won a professional title in singles, Anna was always among the tour's leading earners in endorsements. (Gee, I wonder why.) She famously dated Russian the two hockey stars pictured here, Pavel Bure and Slava Fedisov. Both experienced declines in their careers after dating Anna.

1974 Tennis Romance Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert each won singles titles at Wimbledon in 1974. They were also engaged to be married. Their engagement was terminated by the end of the year. All-American girl Chris has been married three times. Rebellious Jimmy has been married since 1980 to wife number one--a former Playboy model. Go figure.

Connors Vs Rosewall 1974 US Open Here is some action from the third set of the 1974 men's U.S. Open final. Jimmy Connors, who had just turned 22, demolished Australia's Ken Rosewall, who was nearing his 40th birthday. It was the most lopsided final ever: The score was 6-1, 6-0, 6-1. Connors had also beaten Rosewall in the 1974 Wimbledon final in straight sets.

Linda Siegel Tennis Dress Accident Linda Siegel, a shapely 18-year-old Californian, made her Wimbledon debut in 1979. After a first-round bye, she lost in straight sets to seventh-seed Billie Jean King 6-1, 6-3 in the second round--but her photograph made the front pages of the British tabloids. Why? Following one of her serves, Siegel 'fell out' of her low-cut dress, much to the delight of the courtside photographers. Among the cheeky headlines in the next day's British newspapers was 'Thanks For The Mammary.' Siegel never played at Wimbledon again.
