Mel Brooks is a comedic genius and this film proves it. It was actually filmed in the same castle as the original Frankenstein classic, and starred Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Madeleine Kahn,Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, and Gene Hackman. If you haven't seen it you're missing out on one of the funniest films of our generation.

Born Lyon Chiam Green on Feb 12, 1915 in Ottawa, Ontario to Russian Jewish immigrants. The first of his American television roles was as family patriarch Ben Cartwright on the long-running western series Bonanza (1959–1973), making Greene a household name. After the cancellation of Bonanza, he was host for the CBS nature documentary series Last of the Wild from 1974 to 1975. In the 1977 miniseries Roots, he played the first master of Kunta Kinte, John Reynolds. Greene's next best-known role was Commander Adama, another patriarchal figure, in the science fiction feature film and television series Battlestar Galactica (1978–1979) and Galactica 1980 (1980). He was also the host and narrator of the nature series, Lorne Greene's New Wilderness. For nearly a decade, Lorne co-hosted the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC. Sadly, he died of pneumonia on September 11, 1987 in Santa Monica, California at the age of 72. Only weeks before his death, he had been signed to appear in a revival of Bonanza. The song on this video was performed by Lorne, entitled The Place Where I Worship. It's very fitting for this day and I hope, no matter what your religious beliefs, it will give you a feeling of peace.

Often cited as one of the great comedies of its time, the film version won critical acclaim and became the biggest US box office hit in the summer of 1955. It contains one of the most iconic images of the 20th Century in which Marilyn Monroe's dress is blown up above her waist by a passing train underneath a subway grate she is standing on. A famous quote, "Isn't it delicious?" has originated from this scene and was even posed as a question on the game show WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? and a bit more TRIVIA ~ both Jimmy Stewart and Walter Matthau were considered for the part of the middle-aged husband, tempted by his sexy, blonde neighbor . . . . . .
Actor who got the part: Tom Ewell

Trailer to "Sunset Boulevard" directed by Billy Wilder, starring William Holden, Gloria Swanson, Erich von Stroheim, Cecil B. DeMille & Buster Keaton. Joe Gillis, an unsuccessful screenplay writer, escapes the finance men who are trying to reclaim his car by driving into the garage of an old mansion on Sunset Boulevard. Assumed to be someone else, he is led by Max the butler to the mansion's owner, silent film star Norma Desmond. Wishing to make a comeback, she hires him to rewrite her "Salome" script, then falls in love with him. Joe moves into the mansion as a kept man. Secretly, Joe is collaborating with a pretty young screenplay editor, Betty Schaefer, on another idea. Though she is engaged to his best friend, Artie Green, an assistant director, Betty falls in love with Joe. When Betty finds out about Norma, she asks him to leave Norma for her, but Joe can't unsettle her life, too. He decides, instead, to leave Hollywood. As he is leaving, a crazed Norma tries to stop him. I adore William Holden, he's simply gorgeous.

Notre Dame defeated Army 13-7 in a college football game on October 18, 1924. Grantland Rice of the New York Herald-Tribune began his eloquent report this way: 'Outlined against a blue-grey October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as famine, pestilence, destruction and death. These are only aliases. Their real names are Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds this afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered down upon the bewildering panorama spread out upon the green plain below.' Rice's article was terrific, but what really made Notre Dame's Four Horsemen famous was this photograph. Once the victorious Irish arrived back on campus, team publicity man George Strickler posed Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Crowley, and Elmer Layden atop horses borrowed from a local livery stable. The photograph was widely circulated and Notre Dame's 1924 backfield became legendary.
