The REAL IT Girl In 1927, Clara Bow reached the heights of her popularity with the film "IT" . . . i went back and looked up her bio in Wikipedia . . the least distressing entry regarding her family had to deal with her mother, Sarah Gordon, who told Bow that acting was for prostitutes. She had also taken to sneaking up behind Bow and threatening to kill her because she felt her daughter would be better off dead. One night, she awoke to find her mother holding a butcher knife to her throat. Clara ran and locked herself in a closet until her grandmother came home. Bow suffered insomnia for the rest of her life... go figure...

Lionel Richie and Helium Gas Recorded on the German show Wetten Dass. Lionel sings his classic song Hello, after breathing in Helium. I prefer the original oxygen version! According to Wiki, Wetten Dass is the most popular TV show in Europe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wetten,_dass..%3F

Righteous Brothers - You ve Lost That Lovin Feeling According to Wikipedia "The Righteous Brothers started their career on Moonglow with two moderate hits: "Little Latin Lupe Lu" and "My Babe" in 1963, as well as two albums. Both songs received airplay, but their first major hit single would be "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" on the Philles label in 1965. Produced by Phil Spector, the record is often cited as one of the peak expressions of Spector's Wall of Sound production techniques. It was one of the most successful pop singles of its time, despite exceeding the standard length for radio play. Indeed, according to BMI, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" remains the most played song in radio history, estimated to have been broadcast more than eight million times. A little known fact is that Spector used Cher (of Sonny & Cher fame) as a backup singer on this and other recordings." Whatever...I still get goosebumps listening to it... Ronnie

Last German First World War Vet Erich Kaestner, believed to be the last surviving German First World War veteran, died on January 1, 2008 at the age of 107. While other countries have held--or plan to hold--state funerals for their last serviceman from the Great War, Kaestner's death went almost unnoticed in Germany. Several weeks went by before the media was alerted by a Wikipedia update. Curiously, the German government does not keep official records of its WWI and WWII veterans. In Kaestner's later years he often received autograph requests from Americans. He never answered them.

Big Blue Marble theme Big Blue Marble was a half-hour children's television series that ran from 1974-1983 in syndication. Distinctive content included stories about children around the world and a pen-pal club that encouraged inter-cultural communication. The show was a very early example of gentle multiculturalism.
