Gunsmoke Seeing all of the submissions for western TV series inspired me to jump on the bandwagon. The television series ran from September 10, 1955 to September 1, 1975 on CBS for 635 episodes. To this day, it is the longest run of any scripted series with continuing characters in American primetime television.

Fargo In 1987, Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy), a car salesman from Minneapolis, Minnesota with financial troubles, hatches a plan to end his financial difficulties. Through his mechanic, a former criminal named Shep Proudfoot, he enlists the service of two hit men, Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare) and Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi), at a bar in Fargo, North Dakota to kidnap his wife, Jean, who will be returned unharmed for a payment of $80,000. Jerry's secret plan is to tell his wealthy but antagonistic father-in-law, Wade, that the ransom is $1,000,000 intending to use the large difference to settle unspecified debts he has accrued and to invest in a business venture involving a parking lot...another black comedy that i thought was terrific! I also got a kick out of how much and how often the local police chief, heavily pregnant Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand)and her sweet husband, Norm, ate!!

MAD Magazine Mad is an American humor magazine founded by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines in 1952. It is the last surviving title from the notorious and critically acclaimed EC Comics line. Offering satire on all aspects of American life and pop culture, the monthly publication deflates stuffed shirts and pokes fun at common frailties.

Creepy Ad Loves Baby Soft Fragrance Love's Baby Soft fragrance launched around the time I was in junior high. The word 'pedophilia' had not yet come into the public consciousness so there was no controversy surrounding this brand or its advertising. . .

John McEnroe Defaulted at 1990 Australian Open John McEnroe was only defaulted twice in his pro tennis career. Once was when he and doubles partner Peter Fleming were stuck in traffic and arrived late for their match at the US Open. The other time was at the 1990 Australian Open, as this clip shows. Prior to 1990, a player was defaulted only after a fourth code violation. McEnroe had forgotten the new rule and was disqualified after the third code violation.

The Lone Ranger This is the opening theme to The Lone Ranger, which starred Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels, and aired from 1949 to 1957. Originally, Tonto rode double with the Lone Ranger on Silver, but after a publicity photo was taken of the Lone Ranger and Tonto this way, the producers wisely decided to give Tonto his own steed.
