Tierney married twice. Her first marriage to costume and fashion designer Oleg Cassini on July 11, 1941 ended in divorce on February 28, 1952. Her second marriage was to Texas oilman, W. Howard Lee on July 11, 1960 until his death on February 17, 1981.
trivia! During the filming of Dragonwyck, she met a young John F. Kennedy, who was visiting the set. They began a romance that ended the following year, when Kennedy told her he could never marry her because of his political ambitions.

Poking through antiques stores while traveling through the Texas Panhandle, Bill Waters stumbled across a tattered old ledger book filled with formulas.
He bought it for $200, suspecting he could resell it for five times that. Turns out, his inkling about the book's value was more spot on than he knew. He eventually discovered the book came from the Waco, Texas, drugstore where Dr Pepper was invented and includes a recipe titled "D Peppers Pepsin Bitters."

In 1965, the Sir Douglas Quintet was formed and the group's name was chosen in an effort to make the band seem British to benefit from the British invasion. This image had its problems, particularly Doug Sahm's Texas accent and that two fifths of the band were of Mexican origin. The band had a top 20 US hit with the song "She's About a Mover" and a number of lesser hit over the years. The SDQ broke up after a bust for marijuana possession in Corpus Christi, TX, and Doug moved to San Francisco, forming the Honkey Blues Band before reforming the new SDQ with a new lineup was resigned and they released the successful single and album "Mendocino". The record contained the song "At the Crossroad" with the legendary Doug Sahm line "You just can't live in Texas if you don't have a lot of soul".

The first mass random shooting in American history took place on August 1, 1966 at the University of Texas in Austin. Charles Whitman, an ex-marine, killed his wife and mother several hours before arriving at the campus. As a research assistant, Whitman had access to a loading area where he was able to unload his old service foot locker containing an arsenal of weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. From the observation deck of University Tower, Whitman killed 16 people and wounded dozens of others in a 96-minute spree. His constantly changing locations made it difficult for law enforcement officials to pinpoint Whitman and gun him down. Whitman was eventually wounded by police and then fatally shot at point-blank range. This is the report that aired on NBC News that night.

On November 29, 1963, President Lyndon Johnson appointed a commission under the leadership of Judge Earl Warren to investigate the November 22, 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy in Dallas. This photograph was taken on September 27, 1964, the day the Warren Commission presented Johnson with its 26-volume report. Known as the Warren Report, it concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald fired three shots from the Texas School Book Depository and was the sole assassin. The accuracy of the report has been questioned since that day.
