First Issue of Playboy Magazine The first issue, published in December 1953, did not carry a date, as Hefner was unsure whether there would be a second issue. It was produced in Hefner's Hyde Park kitchen. The first centerfold was Marilyn Monroe, although the picture used had originally been taken for a calendar, rather than for Playboy. The first issue was an immediate sensation; it sold out within a matter of weeks. The cover price was 50. Copies of the first issue in Mint to Near Mint condition sold for over $5,000 in 2002.

Got Scrubs this milk ad has three of my favorite characters from the sitcom "Scrubs." The show stars Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, and Neil Flynn. "A visit to Sacred Heart Hospital, a fictional teaching hospital, is sure to be a surreal, comedic trip. Expect inner monologues, slapstick situations and occasional musical interludes, all mixed in with poignant scenes of how doctors deal with real medical issues."

The Muppets at Disney World The Muppets at Walt Disney World is a television special starring Jim Henson's Muppets at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. This was the last Muppets project that Jim Henson worked on before his death on May 16, 1990. This telefilm aired on NBC May 6, 1990...this is part one. (In this telefilm, the Muppets, who have sneaked into Walt Disney World, are pursued by a security guard played by Charles Grodin.)

If U Can Imagine It The first beer cans were issued with opening instructions printed on the side. They were opened similar to how you would open a can of tomato juice today. These early cans, known as flat tops, were produced into the mid-1960s...

Strolling Bowling I first saw this on a Johnny Carson show in the early '80s. I don't know who invented it but Carson had him on the show with it. When the fellow wound up the bowling ball, it kind of leaned forward and then quickly hopped down the lane and knocked over the pins. I laughed for a good long time after seeing that. Strolling bowling has been re-issued and you can get them once again online. It's great taking it out once in a while to show friends. They get a kick out of watching it hop down the lane. (I don't really "play" with any of the few vintage toys that I own. I don't think that's a good idea with vintage toys that have wind-up springs. I just basically show friends that they still work.)

First Issue Beauty Parade Beauty Parade was the first of Robert Harrison's series of girlie magazines, published in October 1941. At the time Harrison was working for Martin Quigley, the publisher of "Motion Picture Daily" and "Motion Picture Herald", the story goes that Harrison used to paste together Beauty Parade single handedly in the office after the rest of the staff had gone home. Compared to his later titles, Beauty Parade was alot tamer, although it still featured one of main characteristics of all his magazines, the photostory.
