Bringing Up Father this is a 1919, comic strip re-print book. .i had NO IDEA it had been around this long: "Bringing Up Father" was a comic strip created by George McManus that ran from January 12, 1913 to May 28, 2000. Most readers, however, called it Maggie and Jiggs, after its two main characters. The strip was about an Irishman named Jiggs living in the United States who comes into wealth but still wants to keep his old pals, eat corned beef and cabbage (sometimes called Jiggs dinner), and hang out at the tavern, much to the consternation of his wife, Maggie, a social climber.

Fresca Fresca is a brand of citrus soft drink made by The Coca-Cola Company. First introduced in the United States in 1963, the drink is now sold throughout the world, although not widely available outside of North America. It is, as well, a distinct rarity in Coke products, in that it does not have a Pepsi equivalent. Since its inception, Fresca has been marketed in the United States as a calorie-free, grapefruit-flavored soft drink, ostensibly catering to discriminating adult tastes.. . and i liked it!!

Sherbet Sherbet in the United Kingdom is a kind of fizzy powder made from bicarbonate of soda, tartaric acid, sugar etc and usually cream soda or fruit flavoured. The acid-carbonate reaction occurs upon presence of moisture (juice/saliva). It used to be stirred into various beverages to make effervescing drinks, in a similar way to making lemonade from lemonade powders. Today, people usually buy carbonated drinks rather than making them at home. Sherbet is now used to mean this powder sold as a sweet. In the United States, it would be somewhat comparable to the powder in Pixy Stix or Lik-M-Aid/Fun Dip, though having the fizzy quality of Pop Rocks effervescing candy.

ELVIS Suspicious Minds Live From Hawaii At this time in his life, I think Elvis was at his best. This song was widely regarded as the single that jump-started his career after his successful '68 Comeback Special. It was his eighteenth number-one single in the United States. Rolling Stone later ranked it #91 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Not bad for a country boy from Mississippi.

WWII Nose Art pretty risque "LUCKY LADY"! i was looking for a pic of Marjorie Bong Drucker for jimmyjet . . who went from homecoming queen to World War II "nose art" queen. She met and dated military aviator Richard I. Bong in 1943. When he returned to combat, he put her picture on his plane rather than one of the pinup girl paintings known during the war as "nose art." And when Bong became the top U.S. air ace of the war, his girlfriend's image became famous throughout the United States. After he returned from the front, the two had a storybook marriage. . .

Johnny Quest Cartoon Opening Sequence 60s credit to RetroJunk dot Com An action packed cartoon that I watched on Saturday mornings in the 60s while eating my bowl of Crap N' Crunch cereal! What ever became of Johnny Quest, Dr. Benton Quest, Race Bannon and Hadji? Little did they know what the future had in store for them. Poor Dr. Quest died in prison after being convicted of the illegal use of nuclear material in direct violation of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Race Bannon is now suffering from brain damage after taking one too many blows to the head, is in a nursing home and has to have this Depends changed hourly; and sadly, poor Johnny Quest lost his job and it was sent to India due to corporate greed, Americans wanting more money for doing less work and the flood of illegal immigrants from Mexico coming to the United States. Distraught, Johnny Quest had no choice but to immigrate to India to find work where he now works for Hadji at a Calcutta call center owned by an American company validating rebates for Salad Shooters for a few Rubles a day. Bandit is in doggy heaven after dying of natural causes in 1974.

1957 Frances Farmer Update when i posted the photo of a glamorous and radiant Frances Farmer, i became interested in her life and career. As Sophia stated, reports of her 'institutional life' are conflicting (i.e. whether or not she had indeed had a lobotomy). What was evident, however, was that she was repeatedly subjected to insulin shock therapy and “hydrotherapy.” Now illegal, this barbaric practice consisted of her being stripped naked and thrown into a tub of icy water for six to eight hours at a time. . .i didn't intend to blog on this, but was so horrified at the treatment of the mentally ill.. that i couldn't stand it!
