Rhyme And Reason Pilot Anybody else remember the game show Rhyme And Reason? It aired for about six months on ABC in 1975. It was designed for three reasons: To duplicate the success of CBS' Match Game; to give Bob Eubanks a new show after the cancellation of The Newlywed Game at the end of 1974; and to showcase the poetic skills of Nipsey Russell. The show never caught on and was eventually replaced by Family Feud. This is from the pilot episode. Be prepared to be shocked by how risque some of the answers are for 1975!

The Conqueror- Takes Many Lives Including John Wayne The Conqueror is a 1956 epic film produced by Howard Hughes and starring John Wayne as the Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan. The Conqueror on location in Utah in 1955, Of the 220 actors, 91 had contracted cancer as of the early 1980s and 46 died of it, including stars John Wayne, Susan Hayward, and Agnes Moorehead, and director Dick Powell. Experts say under ordinary circumstances only 30 people out of a group of that size should have gotten cancer. The cause? No one can say for sure, but many attribute the cancers to radioactive fallout from U.S. atom bomb tests in nearby Nevada. Many people involved in the production knew about the radiation (there's a picture of Wayne himself operating a Geiger counter during the filming), but no one took the threat seriously at the time. Howard Hughes was said to have felt "guilty as hell" about the whole affair, although as far as I can tell it never occurred to anyone to sue him. For various reasons he withdrew The Conqueror from circulation, and for years thereafter the only person who saw it was Hughes himself, who screened it night after night during his paranoid last years.

Hello Larry Opening Theme Since bad sitcoms seem to be a discussion point, here's a doozy: Hello, Larry starring McLean Stevenson. Somehow this turkey lasted two seasons before being yanked by NBC.

Then and Now- Erin Murphy- Tabitha on Bewitched The topless photo of Erin Murphy on the internet isnít what you think. Erin began her career while still in diapers. Discovered by an agent, as her mother pushed her stroller in Los Angeles, Erin got her first job, playing a boy in a commercial for Folgers Coffee, at eleven months. Her next job was a detergent commercial with future President Ronald Reagan. Right before her second birthday, ABC came calling, and Erin was cast as little witch Tabitha Stephens on the top ten sitcom, Bewitched. Millions of fans around the world tuned in to see if Tabitha had inherited magical powers from her mother Samantha. They delighted in Erinís antics as she turned bullies into bulldogs and bullfrogs, played piano like a maestro and skated like Dorothy Hamill. After eight seasons, 23 Emmy nominations, and 254 episodes, Bewitched gracefully ended without cancellation. Despite the fact that Bewitched was filmed in the 60ís and 70ís, the popularity of the show endures. Entertainment Weekly recently named Bewitched one of the ď100 Greatest TV Shows of All TimeĒ and for the 50th Anniversary of TV Guide. Immediately following Bewitched, Erin turned down a part on The Waltons to go to Girl Scout camp, but she didnít lose her love for the business. During her teens, Erin modeled and did numerous commercials. Today, she is 44 and has worked as a casting director, a makeup artist, a fashion stylist, an acting teacher, a motivational speaker. With her engaging personality, sense of humor and ability to appeal to audiences as diverse as Nickelodeon and Howard Stern, Erin is a popular celebrity host. Sheís been featured on numerous programs, look for her on as the host of the Ab Shark infomercial for Thane & the Bun Shaper infomercial for Emson!

Tammy Grimes Show 1966 Frank's comment about ABC's 1966-67 schedule made reference to the short-lived Tammy Grimes Show. Here is a black-and-white version of the first 10 minutes of the first episode. Broadway star Tammy Grimes played madcap, free-spending bank heiress Tamantha Ward. Dick Sargent (later to be the second Darrin on Bewitched) played her brother, Terence. Only 10 episodes were ever made, and only four were aired before the series was axed. The Tammy Grimes show was produced by William Dozier, the man responsible for making Batman a huge hit on ABC. The network hoped Dozier could strike gold again with The Tammy Grimes Show. It didn't happen. Slotted against My Three Sons and Star Trek, poor ratings and negative reviews quickly killed this show.

Professor Kitzel More memories from my childhood: The Wonderful Stories of Professor Kitzel. The animated professor would introduce short, entertaining lessons about history, science, geography, and foreign cultures. They were great! This episode is about the discovery of King Tut's tomb. Kids today are so deprived of good stuff like this!

1964 Notre Dame-Navy Game Here are the condensed highlights of the 1964 Notre-Dame-Navy game played at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. The game is noteworthy for two reasons: It featured a matchup of Navy QB Roger Staubach, the 1963 Heisman Trophy winner, and Notre Dame QB John Huarte, who would win the Heisman in 1964. The game was also noteworthy for being the first of Notre Dame's 43 consecutive wins over Navy.
