Jean Vander Pyl Grave Marker Since we've been doing a lot of reminiscing about The Flintstones, I thought I'd post a photo of the grave marker of Jean Vander Pyl (the voice of Wilma Flintstone) at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest, California. Notice the small picture of Wilma inset beside the image of the deceased!

Remembering Robert Goulet Robert Goulet passed away this morning (10/30) while awaiting a lung transplant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being found last month to have a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis. He had remained in good spirits even as he waited for the transplant, said Vera Goulet, his wife of 25 years. "Just watch my vocal cords," she said he told doctors before they inserted a breathing tube. He was the only son of French Canadian parents, Joseph Georges Andre Goulet and the former Jeanette Gauthier. Though he was born in Massachusetts, his parents moved back to Canada just a few months after his birth. He gained stardom in 1960 with "Camelot," the Lerner and Loewe musical that starred Richard Burton as King Arthur and Julie Andrews as his Queen Guenevere. In his last performance Sept. 20 in Syracuse, N.Y., the crooner was backed by a 15-piece orchestra as he performed the one-man show "A Man and his Music." Robert Goulet won a 1968 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for this performance in " The Happy Time". He was 73.

The Ghost and Mr Chicken This is the final nine minutes of my favorite Don Knotts movie: The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966). Knotts plays Luther Heggs, a nervous typesetter employed at a small-town newspaper. As a publicity stunt for his paper, he is cajoled into spending a night in a vacant mansion, rumored to be haunted, where a murder-suicide occurred 20 years before. Heggs reports all sorts of odd and blood-curdling goings-on. But when he tries to verify them, he cannot and is seemingly disgraced. This movie used to freak me out as a kid. My eight-year-old nephew won't watch it. The organ music is too scary for him.

Joni Mitchells Big Yellow Taxi In concert 1970 with the environmentalist "Big Yellow Taxi". Joni Mitchell, was born Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7, 1943, in Fort Macleod, Alberta. She is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and painter. Her singing began in small nightclubs and busking on the streets of Toronto and in her native Western Canada. She subsequently became associated with the fast growing folk music scene of the mid-1960s in New York City. Later, while she was playing one night in "The Gaslight South", a club in Florida, David Crosby walked in and was immediately struck by her ability and her appeal as an artist. He took her back to Los Angeles, where he set about introducing her and her music to his friends. Mitchell achieved fame in the late 1960's and was considered a key part of the Southern California folk rock scene. Throughout the 1970's, she explored and combined the pop and jazz genres. She's amassed a body of work that is highly respected by both critics and fellow musicians.

Bobby Goldsboro LITTLE THINGS From the tv show Hullabaloo in 1965. Bobby Goldsboro started out in the early sixties as a guitarist with Roy Orbison. During his three years with Orbison he traveled all over the world and even toured with The Beatles. In 1964 he began his solo career by recording the first of a string of sixteen top-forty hits, “See the Funny Little Clown.” One of his first concert bookings had him opening for the Rolling Stones on their first U.S. tour. More million-selling hits followed, setting the stage for 1968 and the classic, “Honey,” which became the largest-selling record in the world. “Watching Scotty Grow,” “Little Green Apples” and “With Pen in Hand” have also become classics.

Do U Recognize The Burger King Star yes, it's Sarah Michelle Gellar in a 1981 commercial for Burger King... This commercial led to a lawsuit against Burger King, ad agency J. Walter Thompson, and Gellar herself, who appeared in court as a witness for the defense. The dispute was eventually settled out of court...

Skinhead Breaks Geraldo Riveras Nose Before brawls were regular happenings on TV talk show sets, a famous scuffle broke out on Geraldo in 1988. (What do you expect when you have a show about skinheads and their ideological enemies?) The result: one broken nose for host Geraldo Rivera! If it hadn't already begun, the era of sleazy talk shows was now underway. (Loathsome as this incident was, I must admit I experienced a bit of schadenfreude when this donnybrook happened!)

Brady Kids Sing Time To Change This is from a 1972 episode of The Brady Bunch titled Dough Re Mi. You've probably seen it a dozen times: Greg writes a surefire hit song (We Can Make The World A Whole Lot Brighter) and cajoles the other five Brady kids to chip in to buy time at a recording studio. But, oh no, puberty sets in and Peter's voice starts to change! It looks like the Brady kids will have to forfeit their non-refundable $150, but Greg saves the day by writing Time To Change--a song that features Peter's cracking voice.
