Here's another performer whose career was launched with the help of Ed Sullivan.
Johnny Rivers was born John Henry Ramistella, on Nov 7, 1942, in New York. He was versatile enough to do folk songs, blues, covers of old-time rock 'n' roll songs, and some original material, all of them in his own unique style. Rivers's greatest success came in the mid and late 1960s with a string of hit songs (including "Seventh Son," "Poor Side of Town" and "Secret Agent Man"), but he has continued to record and perform to the present.

This six minute car chase from The Master Touch (1972) is one of my favorites with Giuliano Gemma getting chased all over town, including through a cardboard box factory, there's always one of those.. WOW, I'd LOVE to be a stunt driver in my next life!!

This song is home to Walter Brennan's famous line, "One of these days, I'm gonna climb that mountain" - repeated by most all the impersonators when they are doing a vocal impression of Brennan's unmistakable voice. Mr. Brennan won 3 Oscars as best supporting actor. He was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The single - Old Rivers, was released in 1962.
