Who would have thought this sitcom would be the catalyst that would help rocket Tom Hanks into superstardom? It was a funny show, after their own apartment building was demolished, Kip Wilson (Tom Hanks) and Henry Desmond (Peter Scolari) had to pose as females in order to live in the all female Susan B. Anthony Hotel because of the dirt cheap rent. There were several fine performances by Donna Dixon, Wendie Jo Sperber, Holland Taylor, Lucille Benson and Telma Hopkins of Tony Orlando and Dawn fame. This reminded me of Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot.

I've got her on my mind now because of Lava's trivia question. Nancy Walker was a natural comedianne, her role as Ida Morgenstern in the sitcom, Rhoda, was closer to real life than most people realized. She was devoted, loving, sarcastic, and never let you have the last word. Reminds me of someone very dear to me (i love you ma). Enjoy this short clip of Ida in all her glory..

Lava's clip from My Fair Lady reminded me of the night in 1977, when I took my mom to see Yul Brynner live in The King and I at the Miami Beach Theatre of the Performing Arts. We were fortunate enough to have great seats a couple of rows behind the orchestra, and had a perfect view of the stage. I'd seen Yul Brynner hundreds of times on the screen, but never in person. He was magnificent! Such a handsome man, and his stage presence just blew me away, my mom was in heaven as well! Mrs Anna Leonowens was played by Constance Towers, who years later played Helena Cassadine in General Hospital. After the play, when the audience was leaving, we ran back to where the stage door was on the side of the building just in time to see him get into his Limousine. As it drove right by us I could see him and I waved like crazy, and he waved back with that wonderful handsome smile! I'll never forget that as long as I live.

This song said so much and made such an impression on us back then, a reminder of what human beings are capable of in the name of the law. Paul Revere organized the Raiders in 1958 in Idaho. They were the first rock group to be signed with Columbia Records. In 1965-1966 they were featured on the ABC TV five-day-a-week network show "Where the Action Is" produced by Dick Clark, and appeared on 520 ABC network shows.
In 1968 & 1969 Paul Revere co-hosted a weekly ABC series "Happening". He also co-hosted a five-day-a-week summer show, "It's Happening".
In the summer of 1971 the Raiders' recording of "Indian Reservation" sold nearly 4 million singles, making it the biggest selling record for Columbia Records in 10 years. The group has performed thousands of concerts in North America, Europe and Asia as well as being seen on major TV shows.
Paul Revere and the Raiders had 25 consecutive hit singles. Revere has continued to play shows on the oldies circuit and in Branson, Missouri with various Raiders. Lindsay is semi-retired and lives in Portland, Oregon, where he hosts a radio show on a local station KLTH 106.7FM. Keith Allison, who played in the Raiders from 1968 to 1975, has since gone into acting, and has appeared in the film Gods and Generals. In 1997, the group's classic 1966 Midnight Ride lineup (singer Mark Lindsay, guitarist Drake Levin, bassist Phil "Fang" Volk and drummer Mike "Smitty" Smith) reunited in full costume (though without Revere himself) for a 30th anniversary performance in Portland. Smith died four years later.
