Charlie Rich had so much more talent than he was given credit for, he was a genius when it came to the piano, wrote and played not only country music, but blues and jazz as well. Here's one of his hits from the 70's that we hardly ever get to hear anymore.

An unlikely combination to be sure: On a 1963 Jack Paar Show, Cassius Clay (he was not yet Muhammad Ali) reads one of his self-aggrandizing poems while Liberace provides the piano accompaniment.

Look familiar? . . the Stanley Hotel in Colorado
reports several spirits, but the most notable are those of the original owner, F.O. Stanley and his wife, Flora. She used to entertain guests by playing the piano and staff report hearing music from that room or the piano keys moving even when the music stops as they enter. When horror writer Stephen King stayed in room 217 he was inspired to write The Shining. . . redrum!!!!

Neil first demonstrated musical aptitude in his second-grade choral class, and when his teacher sent a note home suggesting he take piano lessons, his mother got a job in a department store for six months to pay for a second-hand upright. He took to the instrument immediately. In 1947, he auditioned successfully for a piano scholarship to the prestigious Juilliard School of Music's Preparatory Division for Children. The best-known Billboard Hot 100 hits of his early career were "Oh! Carol", "Calendar Girl", "You Mean Everything to Me", "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen", and "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do". "Oh! Carol" referred to Neil's former girlfriend Carole King. In 2007, Sedaka continues to perform regularly. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in October 2006. Last month, a special concert was presented at the Lincoln Center in New York City, to honor the 50th anniversary of Sedaka's debut in show business. In this clip Neil does a medley of his hits Stairway to Heaven, Hey Little Devil, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen and Calendar Girl.

Gene Pitney passed away last April, 2006, of natural causes, he was 65, but he left a legacy of hits going back to the early 60's and had been touring for the last 40 years. His songs have been recorded by some of the world's biggest stars, Hello Mary Lou was released by Rick Nelson, Roy Orbison recorded Today's Teardrops as the B-side to his million-selling single, Blue Angel. He is also credited with helping the Rolling Stones break into the American market with his endorsement of the band. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote his hit That Girl Belongs to Yesterday which became the Stones duo's first composition to reach the American charts. Gene once recalled how his first solo performance at school degenerated into an embarrassing whimper as he was petrified by the expectant audience.
Overcoming his nerves over the next few years, Pitney learned to play the guitar and piano and formed a schoolboy band. It was during one of their gigs that his distinctive voice was discovered by the proverbial "fat man with a cigar" who took him off to New York, and the rest was history.

Leon was first known mostly as a session musician, and played played with artists as varied as Jerry Lee Lewis, Phil Spector and The Rolling Stones. He had a solo career spanning the genres of rock, blues, and gospel. His first songwriting hit was for Joe Cocker's 1969 "Delta Lady", and Russell went on to organise Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. The man can beat a piano.
He is on tour and I will be seeing him tonight (11-15-07) in Virginia Beach at a fitting venue for his style of music.

If you are some kind of eccentric rich person, or a hopeless collector, you can have a piece of Elton John’s history, a 1904 piano casemod with a 26” HDTV screen, Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM and 500GB of storage. And you’ll have more than enough space to make any upgrade you do want to.
The “buy it now” price is US$ 19,998.00 and if you just can’t help it and want to buy it right now, just head to eBay...

but i won't do that . . and here's some Meat Loaf TRIVIA:
This was Meat Loaf's comeback song. In 1977, his album BAT OUT OF HELL, produced the hits "TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD," "PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT," and "YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUTTA MY MOUTH," all written by piano player Jim Steinman. After a falling out with Steinman and difficulty in his personal life, Meat Loaf released several unsuccessful albums before reuniting with Steinman for Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, which was considered a sequel to the 1977 album. This has a very similar sound to Meat Loaf's previous hits, and the bombastic, piano-driven style went over well with his old fans as well as a new generation of listeners, helping make this a massive hit...
