Bill Barilko Mystery One of the oddest sports stories ever is the disappearance of Bill Barilko of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the spring of 1951, Barilko became a Leafs hero when he scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal against the Montreal Canadiens. That summer, Barilko and a dentist friend, Dr. Henry Hudson, flew to northern Quebec in the dentist's private plane to do some fishing on the Seal River. For their return home, they loaded the plane's pontoons with 120 pounds of fish they had caught, took off for southern Ontario--and were not seen alive again. The RCMP began a huge search for the missing men. (Some thought the police's interest in the case was far beyond what might be expected.) Nearly eleven years passed before the plane's wreckage was discovered in a densely wooded area of northern Ontario. The skeletal remains of Barilko and Hudson were found in the plane. Oddly enough, the plane was facing the opposite direction one would expect--and the 120 pounds of fish were not found in the pontoons. One persistent and fascinating rumor insists that Barilko, who hailed from a gold-mining community, was using his dentist friend as a mule to move a significant quantity of gold nuggets and dust he had illegally obtained from the mine. (Since dentists need gold for fillings, they have connections with gold suppliers.) The plane's pontoons had mysteriously been sliced open.

Al Wilson Show and Tell 1974, Quality not the best but still captures the moment, what a voice and what a song. Just found out Al has passed away, another fine voice gone, but at least we have their records and videos left as memories. Goodnight AL. I would like thank you for all your comments, AL would be happy he left part of himself in his music so we can all share.

Bob Costas Eulogizes Jim McKay One of my favorite sportscasters eulogizes another: Bob Costas talks about the late Jim McKay, who passed away on June 7, 2008. McKay was the host of ABC's Wide World of Sports for 36 years and hosted 12 Olympic Games for ABC. He is most famous for the extreme professionalism he showed in covering the hostage situation at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

ABC Movie Of The Week 1969 This was one of many openings that ABC used for their Movie Of The Week. There was a Tuesday Movie of the Week and a Wednesday Movie of the Week. There was also a generic one, this one. It simply said World Premiere. The music is based on a Burt Bacharach song called "Nikki". It was written for his daughter back in 1966. Sadly, Nikki passed away recently. Nikki's mom was Angie Dickinson.

Dody Goodman Passed June 22 2008 Dody Goodman playing the role as Blanch, passed away on June 22, 2008 at the age of 93. Ms. Goodman’s distinctive voice was once described as sounding “like a Tweetie Pie cartoon bird strangling on peanut butter.” She was also the mother of Mary on the 70s TV Show Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.

In Memory of Larry Clackum- Naomis Husband It is with a very heavy heart that I inform everyone that Larry Clackum, Naomi’s husband passed away today after suffering a stroke last night. Larry and Naomi have been with YouRememberThat.com since the beginning; but more importantly they became beloved friends to all of us here. Larry and Naomi have been best friends since they were teenagers and were married for 43 years. This Saturday Larry would have celebrated his 63rd birthday. The birthday party is still on to celebrate his life. Larry was a reserved guy which is why we never did a biography on him. He had a genuine heart full of love. It was not surprising when Naomi told me that if anyone, even family members wanted to do anything in his memory to make a donation to a local animal shelter in lieu of flowers. Please include Naomi and family in your prayers for peace and guidance during this difficult time. We will miss you Larry!
