Fresca Fresca is a brand of citrus soft drink made by The Coca-Cola Company. First introduced in the United States in 1963, the drink is now sold throughout the world, although not widely available outside of North America. It is, as well, a distinct rarity in Coke products, in that it does not have a Pepsi equivalent. Since its inception, Fresca has been marketed in the United States as a calorie-free, grapefruit-flavored soft drink, ostensibly catering to discriminating adult tastes.. . and i liked it!!

Harold Lloyd Safety Last This is the final 10-1/2 minutes of Safety Last!--a silent 1923 Harold Lloyd film. Lloyd, despite his meek appearance, excelled at physical comedy. In this movie Lloyd has to take the place of a friend who was supposed to do a human fly act and climb the outside of the office building where Lloyd works. This is real, folks! There was no trick photography. Lloyd used a stunt double for the long shots in this clip, but all the harrowing closeups were of Lloyd. Lloyd had only a thin mattress on the sidewalk if he happened to fall. Safety last, indeed!

Silver Bullet Trailer 1985 The small city of Tarker's Mill is startled by extreme sadistic murders. The population fears that this is the work of a maniac. During a search a mysterious, hairy creature is observed. This strange appearance is noticed once a month. People lock themselves up at night, but there's one boy who's still outside.......and he's preparing the barbecue. I just LOVE Stephen King!!!

Buster Brown Shoes oh, i have a HORRIBLE story to share with you about Buster Browns!! YEA, HUH? When my Dad was little, his Uncle gave him a little goat . . (that's the good part) they were very poor and it was time for Dad to get a new outfit. They didn't have any money, so HIS MOTHER sold the goat unbeknownst to my Dad . . Daddy came home with this incredibly uncomfortable Buster Brown outfit . . and THEN couldn't find his little knot-headed buddy!! Of all the nerve!! Bothered him all his life . . So one year for Christmas, i got him a life-sized carved goat that a 'fellow' whittled out of wood, and i put it outside the picture window at my parent's house with a big red bow on it. On Christmas morning when my sister and I got down there (now in our 40's) and we had opened all our presents, i went and opened the curtains . .TA DA!! Dad was THRILLED . .Mom is STILL mad because it's an eye sore!! LOL

Country Superstar Eddy Arnold dies at 89 Eddy Arnold, whose mellow baritone on songs like 'Make the World Go Away', made him one of the most successful country singers in history, died this morning May 6,2008, days short of his 90th birthday. Arnold died at a care facility near Nashville. His wife of 66 years, Sally, had died in March, and in the same month, Arnold fell outside his home, injuring his hip. Arnold's vocals on songs like the 1965 "Make the World Go Away," one of his many No. 1 country hits and a top 10 hit on the pop charts, made him one of the most successful country singers in history. Folksy yet sophisticated, he became a pioneer of "The Nashville Sound," also called "countrypolitan," a mixture of country and pop styles. His crossover success paved the way for later singers such as Kenny Rogers. "I sing a little country, I sing a little pop and I sing a little folk, and it all goes together," he said in 1970. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966. The following year he was the first person to receive the entertainer of the year award from the Country Music Association. The reference book "Top Country Singles 1944-1993," ranked Arnold the No. 1 country singer in terms of overall success on the Billboard country charts. It lists his first No. 1 hit as "It's a Sin," 1947, and for the following year ranks his "Bouquet of Roses" as the biggest hit of the entire year. Other hits included "Cattle Call,""The Last Word in Lonesome Is Me,""Anytime,""Bouquet of Roses,""What's He Doing in My World?""I Want to Go With You,""Somebody Like Me,""Lonely Again" and "Turn the World Around." Most of his hits were done in association with famed guitarist Chet Atkins, the producer on most of the recording sessions. The late Dinah Shore once described his voice as like "warm butter and syrup being poured over wonderful buttermilk pancakes." Reflecting on his career, he said he never copied anyone. 'I really had an idea about how I wanted to sing from the very beginning,' he said. He revitalized his career in the 1960s by adding strings, a controversial move for a country artist back then. 'I got to thinking, if I just took the same kind of songs I'd been singing and added violins to them, I'd have a new sound. They cussed me, but the disc jockeys grabbed it. ... The artists began to say, 'Aww, he's left us.' Then within a year, they were doing it!' Arnold was born May 15, 1918, on a farm near Henderson, Tenn., the son of a sharecropper. He sang on radio stations in Jackson, Tenn., Memphis, Tenn., and St. Louis before becoming nationally known. His image was always that of a modest, clean-cut country boy. 'You cannot satisfy all the people,' he once said. 'They have an image of me. Some people think I'm Billy Graham's half brother, but I'm not. I want people to get this hero thing off their mind and just let me be me.'

Dionne Quintuplets The Great Depression did not produce many happy stories, but the birth of the Dionne quintuplets near remote Callander, Ontario, Canada in 1934 was at least outwardly a feel-good news item of the decade. Five identical girls were born to Elzire Dionne on May 28, 1934. They were attended to by a country doctor, Roy Allan Dafoe. Never before had quintuplets survived infancy. The story turned sour when the quints were made wards of the Ontario government because of the financial straits of the Dionne family and other concerns. The provincial government built Quintland, a tourist attraction where the girls were put on public display for the numerous visitors who travelled the Trans-Canada Highway to northern Ontario to see them. Quintland served as a home for the girls who were cared for by nurses, as well as a museum and viewing area for the tourists. Eventually some three million tourists came to Quintland--as many as 6,000 each day at its peak. (There was no admission charge to see the quints, but the region reaped millions of dollars in revenues from hotels, restaurants, etc.) At one point, the quints were Canada's top tourist attraction, surpassing Niagara Falls. The quints were isolated from the outside world and even from their parents and other siblings. The Dionne parents staged years of legal challenges to regain custody of their estranged daughters. They finally succeeded in 1943. The three surviving quints were awarded a large cash settlement in the late 1990s by the Ontario government. Only two of the girls survive today.
