Wheres Waldo One of Many great Kids books of the 90s Oh, Waldo, how you continue to thwart our valiant search efforts. Despite your obvious penchant for flamboyantly candy cane striped red and white sweater/hat combos and your tendency to take along every possible piece of travel equipment on your obscenely crowded vacations, you still manage to boggle our minds with your mysterious whereabouts. In the original book, Waldo lugs along a walking stick, sleeping bag, mallet, drinking cup, binoculars, kettle, backpack, camera, snorkel, belt, another bag, and a shovel. Clearly, if he's going get lost in a crowd, he's got every imaginable amenity to walk, sleep, pound, drink, see, boil, carry, document photographically, dive, remain in pants, store more items, or dig his way out. That's right, it makes perfect sense. With "Waldo-mania" sweeping the country throughout the 1990s, there seemed to be no one without vested stake or interest in finding this bespectacled excursionist. There was something oddly if inexplicably satisfying about curling up with a big hardcover picture book and focusing on crowded, chaotic scenes until your eyes crossed. It wasn't just Waldo we were after, either; he brought with him a gang of of absurd cronies and/or nemeses. There was Wanda, Waldo's pal. Woof, his faithful canine companion. After that is where things got a bit weird. These were from the 90's: Where's Wally? The Ultimate Fun Book (1990) Where's Wally? The Magnificent Poster Book (1991) Where's Wally? The Dazzling Deep-sea Divers Sticker Book (1994) Where's Wally? The Fabulous Flying Carpets Sticker Book (1994) Where's Wally? In Hollywood (1993) Where's Wally? The Wonder Book (1997) Where's Wally? The Great Picture Hunt (2006) Where's Wally? The Incredible Paper Chase (2009)

Nestle Magic Ball aka The Wonder Ball 1997 Better known as Nestle Wonder Ball is a spherical, thin shell of milk chocolate with candy inside, wrapped in foil, placed in a small box, and packaged with a collectible sticker. The product's slogan is "What's In the Wonder Ball?" Originally called Nestle Magic Ball, the product used to contain small figurines of Disney characters, similar to the Kinder Surprise which retails in Europe. However, due to choking hazard concerns, the product was withdrawn in 1997. The theme song for these was totally addicting: “Oh, I wonder, wonder, what’s in a Wonder Ball!”. Don’t act like you’re not singing it to yourself right now. Oh, and these amazing little candies came with a surprise candy inside, plus a sticker. Does it get much better?

Canadian Five-Dollar Spock Banknotes Since at least 2009, pranksters in Canada have been 'Spock-ing' $5 banknotes as an ongoing practical joke. The portrait on the Canadian $5 bill actually is of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, who served as Canada's prime minister from 1896 to 1911. Someone apparently realized there was a resemblance between Laurier and Mr. Spock from Star Trek. With a pencil or a black marker and a little artistic talent...Voila! You have a Spock-ed $5 bill! It is not a crime to deface Canadian banknotes, but officials at the Bank of Canada advise against it as it may make merchants reluctant to accept such bills and some people may find the gag disrespectful. Although there have been reports of renewed interest in the Spock-ed fives because of the recent death of Leonard Nimoy, the practice is doomed to extinction. The Bank of Canada unveiled a new-look $5 note in 2013 that uses a frontal view of Laurier's face rather than the more Spock-able profile. Moreover, the new $5 bills are printed on polymer--a surface which makes drawing on them more difficult.
