Rachael Rays Mom An early TV cooking demonstration featuring Martha Brooks. The TV station WRGB began experimental broadcasts in 1928. In the early 1940's, Brooks starred in the station's (and, some believe, the nation's) first commercially-sponsored television program, "Keeping Your Home Shipshape." For this role Brooks assumed another alias, Mrs. Ima Fixit. She starred on the program opposite a puppet created by Joe Owens.

Tool Time Tool Time was the fictitious handyman show-within-a-show in the television situation comedy, Home Improvement. It was hosted by Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor (played by Tim Allen) and Al Borland (played by Richard Karn). The sponsor of Tool Time was Binford Tools, a fictitious tool manufacturing company. <Part of the show's attraction was its token "Tool Time girl", whose primary roles were to look good, be curvaceous, roll out various props and help introduce the two hosts. In the first two seasons, Pamela Anderson played Tool Time girl Lisa. When Pamela left the show, Debbe Dunning stepped in as her replacement, Heidi, who stayed until the show's cancellation. A fictional flashback to the first episode shows Mrs. Binford (most likely the mother of Mr. Binford, due to her age) playing the part of the Tool Time girl. Also in an ironic, but humorous twist, that "first episode" featured Tim with a beard, while Al sported a clean-shaven face, a direct opposite of their normal look. The 100th episode of Home Improvement (which aired in 1994) celebrated Tool Times 5th anniversary, thus revealing that Tool Time debuted in 1989

Miss Solar System well, Jane would have been disqualified nowadays! (she is a Mrs. and not a Miss) . . this is one of my favorite episodes where George and his boss arrange a beauty contest and decide to be the judges. Jane finds out and enters the contest without George knowing about it . . she even sings, "Won't You Come Home, Bill Spacely"!!! (sounds like something Lucy would do!)

Our Miss Brooks Opening October 3,1952 to May 11,1956. The trials and tribulations of Connie Brooks, the wisecracking English teacher at Madison High School. Stories revolved around her romantic misadventures as she struggled to impress fellow teacher Philip Boynton (Robert Rockwell and played on the radio show by Jeff Chandler), the biology instructor; and her continual clash with crusty, blustery Osgood P. Conklin (Gale Gordon), the principal. Connie rented a room from kindly old Mrs. Davis and rode to school each morning with one of her students, the dimwitted Walter Denton (Richard Crenna). This was a great show. My daughter, who collects old radio shows, has an entire set of these and they had me in stitches every night!

Yul Brynner in The King and I 1956 Lava's clip from My Fair Lady reminded me of the night in 1977, when I took my mom to see Yul Brynner live in The King and I at the Miami Beach Theatre of the Performing Arts. We were fortunate enough to have great seats a couple of rows behind the orchestra, and had a perfect view of the stage. I'd seen Yul Brynner hundreds of times on the screen, but never in person. He was magnificent! Such a handsome man, and his stage presence just blew me away, my mom was in heaven as well! Mrs Anna Leonowens was played by Constance Towers, who years later played Helena Cassadine in General Hospital. After the play, when the audience was leaving, we ran back to where the stage door was on the side of the building just in time to see him get into his Limousine. As it drove right by us I could see him and I waved like crazy, and he waved back with that wonderful handsome smile! I'll never forget that as long as I live.

The Ghost and Mrs Muir 1947 The trailer of Joseph Leo Mankiewicz's classic with Rex Harrison and the dazzlingly beautiful actress Gene Tierney....The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" gave its star, Gene Tierney, one of the best roles of her career, after "Laura". she had the fragility to portray Lucy Muir, the plucky young widow who decides to move to the coast against her in-laws wishes. The idea of the film plays well as it unfolds because obviously, what she is experiencing is all in her mind. Rex Harrison's Capt. Daniel Gregg was also one of his best opportunities as a leading man in the movies. He's perfect as the crusty old seaman that refuses to abandon his beloved home overlooking a beautiful view of the sea. Mr. Harrison plays well opposite Ms. Tierney; their chemistry works well because it combines his rugged good looks and her beauty.
