ELVIS Suspicious Minds Live From Hawaii At this time in his life, I think Elvis was at his best. This song was widely regarded as the single that jump-started his career after his successful '68 Comeback Special. It was his eighteenth number-one single in the United States. Rolling Stone later ranked it #91 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Not bad for a country boy from Mississippi.

The family throws a farewell party for their Chicago friends before they depart. All is smiles and merriment...until they read the telegrams.

Mel Ott Fatal Car Crash On November 14, 1958 baseball Hall-of-Famer Mel Ott and his wife were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. (The car in the photo was Ott's.) According to news reports, Ott, the former New York Giants slugger, pulled onto a fog-shrouded road and was struck by an oncoming vehicle whose 50-year-old driver died at the scene. A week later Ott died in a New Orleans hospital from his numerous injuries. He was just 49. Two other New York Giants' Hall-of-Famers, Frankie Frisch and Carl Hubbell, also died in similar car accidents. Hubbell died exactly 30 years to the day after Ott's death!
