Tinker Toys The Tinkertoy Construction Set was created in 1914—one year after the A. C. Gilbert Company's Erector Set—by Charles H. Pajeau and Robert Pettit in Evanston, Illinois. Pajeau, a stonemason, designed the toy after seeing children play with pencils and empty spools of thread. He and Pettit set out to market a toy that would allow and inspire children to use their imaginations...

Fresca Fresca is a brand of citrus soft drink made by The Coca-Cola Company. First introduced in the United States in 1963, the drink is now sold throughout the world, although not widely available outside of North America. It is, as well, a distinct rarity in Coke products, in that it does not have a Pepsi equivalent. Since its inception, Fresca has been marketed in the United States as a calorie-free, grapefruit-flavored soft drink, ostensibly catering to discriminating adult tastes.. . and i liked it!!

JIMMY JET Probably the earliest flight simulator ever made for kids and one of the greatest toys ever made! Made by the "Deluxe Reading" toy company in the early 1960's, and sold mainly in supermarkets. (You could also get them by mail-order from the old Spiegel catalog and other mail-order firms as well.) You controlled the steering with a yoke as your jet flew over moving terrain, (a rotating scenery cylinder,) controlling your airspeed as you lined up a "target," then fired (actual) rubber-tipped missiles by pulling the two missile-launching levers. Enough dials, levers, chrome and noise to delight any young fighter pilot! It was a blast knocking down my little green army men with the missiles! It used 4 'D' batteries.

Vintage Multi Pistol 09 by Topper Toys 60s The 60's spy craze on TV and in the movies was a natural segway into the toy market. Manufacturers wasted no time putting out a line of toys capitalizing on the success of James Bond, The Man from Uncle, The Avenger's, Secret Agent Man and others. Topper Toys wasted no time either and quickly put out a line of spy toys to compete with the other manufacturers. This is the Multi-Pistol 09. Every Junior Espionage Agent had to have one, including me!

Randix 57 Chevy AM FM Radio Cassette Here is a '57 Chevy AM/FM radio/cassette player from the '80's. The front hood opens to insert the cassette and the rear trunk opens to hold the batteries and AC cord. The headlights are the speakers, the windshield is the carrying handle and the antenna is, well, the antenna. The front driving lights light up when the unit is on. The front license plate says "RANDIX '57 Chevy." It was marketed by the RANDIX Co. but was manufactured in China! (It's probably been giving out melamine rays all these years!) I actually bought this at a Toys "R" Us. For those of you who watch reruns of "Home Improvement," you might have noticed one of these sitting on the shelf of the "Tool Time" set. (One of my favorite shows.)

PERFECT STRANGERS 1986 to 1993 Remember Perfect Strangers, starring Mark Lynn Baker as Larry Appleton and his cousin Balki from the greek island of Mypos? Balki travels to the US to find his relatives and ends up sharing accommodations in Larry's apartment, even though the two cousins could not be more dissimilar. While Larry is panicky, hyperventilative, businesslike and mercenary, Balki is placid, unharried, sunny-natured and idealistic. This show gave us some of the best laughs of the 80s.
