Oh My Erica Susan Lucci is best known for playing the larger-than-life diva Erica Kane on the ABC television soap opera ALL MY CHILDREN, on which she has appeared since the show's inception on January 5, 1970. She was nominated for the "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy" for her work on ALL MY CHILDREN almost every year since 1978. When Lucci didn't win the award after several consecutive nominations, her image in the media began to be lampooned, as she became notoriously synonymous with never winning an Emmy. NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE exploited this by asking her to host an episode (unusual for a daytime serial actor), where her monologue parodied the cast, crew, and even stagehands carrying Emmys of their own in her presence...

Jimmy Durante on Whats My Line The classy and lovable Jimmy Durante was a very unsuccessful mystery guest on this January 31, 1965 episode of What's My Line. His voice was just too recognizable! (Despite the reference to Durante's age, he would outlive three of the four panelists on this show.)

American Bandstand 1952 to 1989 October 6th marks the first televised appearance of American Bandstand. I found some interesting trivia concerning the show. It was customary on AB to have Clark perform a mini-interview with the guest band members. Clark says the most difficult interview he performed was with Prince, an unknown at the time of his appearance. Prince was unresponsive and would generally answer his questions with only a hand gesture or a single word. Clark in fact asked Prince how many instruments he played, Prince responded with, "A thousand." Another famous mini-interview Clark is famous for is one with Madonna, who, when asked what she would like to do 20 years from now, answered coyly, "To rule the world!" B.B. King and Jerry Lee Lewis were the only recording artists to actually sing on the program. They were uncomfortable with miming their performances and requested that they just perform the songs live on the set. In 1961, Tony Orlando performed his then-hit song "Bless You" with his trousers zipper open!

Luther VanDross A House is not a Home Live A clip from 1988, in which Luther VanDross sings "A House is not a Home" live. He, more or less, sings this song directly to Dionne Warrick, who, recorded it originally. With the exception of "Stop to Love" Live at Wembley, I think this is the best Luther VanDross performance ever.

Lucy and Desi although this pic didn't come from the I LOVE LUCY show (it's obviously a publicity shot) i still like it a lot. And now, a little "I LOVE LUCY" TRIVIA: *It was the first to tape before a live audience. *Fred and Ethel's bickering relationship didn't require much acting; in real life Vivian Vance and William Frawley didn't care for each other at all. *Did you know that the original names for the Ricardos would have been Lucy and Larry Lopez? In the lost pilot episode, the voiceover says "You are about to see the pilot episode of the show that was almost I Love Lopez." *In the episode entitled "Lucy is Enceinte". .if you look carefully at the beginning, Lucy is reading McCall's Magazine, and "I LOVE LUCY" is on the cover.

Steve Martins Michael Jackson impersonation This is a clip from a show called "The New Show". It was produced by Lorne Michaels and some of the other original SNL and SCTV creators. Eric Clapton Live LAYLA The story behind the song goes something like this. In 1966, George Harrison married Pattie Boyd, a model he met during the filming of A Hard Day's Night. During the late 1960s, Clapton and Harrison became good friends. Clapton contributed guitar work on Harrison's song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" on The Beatles' White Album but remained uncredited, and Harrison played guitar pseudonymously on Cream's "Badge" from Goodbye. However, trouble was brewing for Clapton. Besides his difficulty in keeping a band together and his growing heroin addiction, when Boyd came to him for aid during marital troubles, Clapton fell desperately in love with her. The title, "Layla", was inspired by the Persian love story, The Story of Layla, by the Persian classical poet Nezami. When he wrote "Layla", Clapton had recently been given a copy of the story by a friend who was in the process of converting to Islam. Nezami's tale, about a moon-princess who was married off by her father to someone other than the man who was desperately in love with her, resulting in his madness, struck a deep chord with Clapton. Boyd divorced Harrison in 1977 and married Clapton in 1979. Harrison was not bitter about the divorce and attended Clapton's wedding with Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney. During their relationship, Clapton wrote another love ballad for her, "Wonderful Tonight." Clapton and Boyd divorced in 1989 after several years of separation.
