Young Frankenstein 1974 Mel Brooks is a comedic genius and this film proves it. It was actually filmed in the same castle as the original Frankenstein classic, and starred Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Madeleine Kahn,Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, and Gene Hackman. If you haven't seen it you're missing out on one of the funniest films of our generation.

Happy Birthday Barbara Walters Barbara Jill Walters was born September 25, 1929. She is an American journalist, writer and media personality who has been a regular fixture on morning television shows (Today and The View), an evening news magazine (20/20), and on The ABC Evening News as the first female evening news anchor. Walters was first known as a popular TV morning news anchor for over 10 years on NBC's Today, where she worked with Hugh Downs and later hosts Frank McGee and Jim Hartz. Walters later spent over 20 years as co-host of ABC's newsmagazine 20/20. She was the first woman to co-anchor the network evening news, working with Harry Reasoner on The ABC Evening News. With all due respect to Ms Walters, I just couldn't help myself with this one.

The Conqueror- Nuked Many Actors Filmed near the site of contemporaneous nuclear testing grounds, the set was contaminated by nuclear fallout. After location shooting, much dirt from the location was transported back to Hollywood in order to match interior shooting done there. Scores of cast and crew members developed forms of cancer over the next two decades, many more than the normal percentage of a random group of this size. Quite a few died from cancer or cancer-related problems, including John Wayne, Susan Hayward, Pedro Armendáriz (who shot himself to death soon after learning he had terminal cancer), Agnes Moorehead, 'Thomas Gomez' , John Hoyt and director Dick Powell. People magazine researched the subsequent health of the cast and crew, which it published in November 1980. By the time of the article's publication, 91 of the 220 members of the film's cast and crew had contracted cancer, and half of these had died from the disease. The figures did not include several hundred local American Indians who served as extras on the set. Nor did it include relatives who had visited cast and crew members on the set, such as the Duke's son Michael Wayne. The People article quoted the reaction of a scientist from the Pentagon's Defense Nuclear Agency to the news: "Please, God, don't let us have killed John Wayne".

April 18 1906 The Day the Hills Trembled At 5:12 a.m. on April 18, 1906 The San Francisco Bay area erupted as the earth unleashed her fury. The violent shocks punctuated the strong shaking which lasting nearly 60 seconds. The quake was felt from southern Oregon to south of Los Angeles and inland as far as central Nevada. The ground had ripped open for more than 270 miles along a great fault - the San Andreas rift. The quake lasted only a minute but caused the one of the worst natural disaster in the nation's history. The damages were estimated at $400,000,000 in 1906 dollars, That would translate to nearly 10 billion dollars today. Photos The Library of Congress J. B. High Anxiety TV trailer 1978 Mel Brooks followed up his hit comedies "Blazing Saddles","Young Frankenstein" and "Silent Movie" with "High Anxiety", a 1978 spoof of Alfred Hitchcock thrillers that once again featured many of his regular performers: Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Cloris Leachman, Ron Carey, Charlie Callas and Jack Riley - with Brooks in the lead role. Future Academy Award winning director Barry Levinson both co-wrote the film and also appeared as an extremely agitated bell hop.
