Sherbet in the United Kingdom is a kind of fizzy powder made from bicarbonate of soda, tartaric acid, sugar etc and usually cream soda or fruit flavoured. The acid-carbonate reaction occurs upon presence of moisture (juice/saliva). It used to be stirred into various beverages to make effervescing drinks, in a similar way to making lemonade from lemonade powders. Today, people usually buy carbonated drinks rather than making them at home.
Sherbet is now used to mean this powder sold as a sweet. In the United States, it would be somewhat comparable to the powder in Pixy Stix or Lik-M-Aid/Fun Dip, though having the fizzy quality of Pop Rocks effervescing candy.

The first beer cans were issued with opening instructions printed on the side. They were opened similar to how you would open a can of tomato juice today. These early cans, known as flat tops, were produced into the mid-1960s...

Made in 1988, and directed by Tim Burton, it starred Alec Baldwin, Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Jeffrey Jones, Glenn Shadix and Catherine O'Hara. The title role was played with relish by Michael Keaton, who had the most fun with a male role since Jack Nicholson's devil in "The Witches of Eastwick.

i tried to find the original by Merrilee Rush . to no avail . . i loved this song. And, when i was a kid. . myself and two other little girls lip-synched and did a little performace of this song . .we ALWAYS thought the words were "JUST CROSS MY STREET BEFORE YOU LEAVE ME, BABY!" and not "JUST TOUCH MY CHEEK BEFORE YOU LEAVE ME, BABY!" lol . . .it sounded right as we sang into our hair brushes!

(personally I think Jane wasn't drinking grape juice)
This gem comes from a 1979 episode of "Dinah!" subtitled "Glamour Is..." with classic glamour gals Diahann Carroll, Jean Peters, Jane Powell, Debbie Reynolds and Jane Russell as well as the designer Bill Travilla who Dinah refers to in this song from Stephen Sondheim's "Company". I've never seen this one as a duet but it may be the only video record of Miss Russell's performance. Someone please let me know if I'm wrong. Jane was the replacement for Elaine Stritch in the original Broadway production and judging by her contribution here, probably did a bang-up job.
