We Are Family YRT Best known for their work with Chic in the late '70s, siblings Debbie, Kim, Joni, and Kathy Sledge -- collectively Sister Sledge -- reached the height of their popularity during the disco era but had been recording since the early '70s and were still active in the late '90s. The group was formed in Philadelphia in 1971, when the sisters' ages ranged from 12 to 16, and they recorded their first single, "TIME WILL TELL," for the Philly-based Money Back label. (For the first few years, the group called itself Sisters Sledge.) In 1972, Sister Sledge signed with Atco and recorded its second single, "WEATHERMAN," which was followed by the Jackson 5-like "MAMA NEVER TOLD ME" in 1973... but i like this one, "WE ARE FAMILY," the best!!!

Joni Mitchells Big Yellow Taxi In concert 1970 with the environmentalist "Big Yellow Taxi". Joni Mitchell, was born Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7, 1943, in Fort Macleod, Alberta. She is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and painter. Her singing began in small nightclubs and busking on the streets of Toronto and in her native Western Canada. She subsequently became associated with the fast growing folk music scene of the mid-1960s in New York City. Later, while she was playing one night in "The Gaslight South", a club in Florida, David Crosby walked in and was immediately struck by her ability and her appeal as an artist. He took her back to Los Angeles, where he set about introducing her and her music to his friends. Mitchell achieved fame in the late 1960's and was considered a key part of the Southern California folk rock scene. Throughout the 1970's, she explored and combined the pop and jazz genres. She's amassed a body of work that is highly respected by both critics and fellow musicians.

Angel On My Shoulder Shelby Flint For some reason I remember this being from the 50's, but in any case this was such a pretty little song, and as the drama queen I was back then, it made me cry every time I heard it! Shelby Flint was a singer who had two top-100 hits, 'Angel on My Shoulder' in 1961 and 'Cast Your Fate to the Wind' in 1966. She's been a voice actress in several movies including, 'Snoopy Come Home' and 'The Rescuers'. Among the songs she performed for The Rescuers, 'Someone's Waiting for You' was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1978. In a recent interview, folk singer, Joni Mitchell confessed that when she began making the rounds of the folk open mic circuit she wanted to sound just like Shelby Flint.

Both Sides Now Joni Mitchell sang this in the late 60's and that version I loved. This version IMO. trumps that one as now a mature and beautiful woman she renders the song having lived life and imparts such feeling to the classic hit.
