A Vintage Zorro Built Up Model Kit by Aurora 1966 Another of Aurora Plastics Corporations line of popular TV and Movie characters. I found this Zorro at a yard sale and didn't repaint him because it already had a fairly decent paint job on it and I was afraid that I may break some of the little pieces when I attempt to dis-assemble.

Vintage Bell Telephone Ad It may have been a desirable job but it was not an easy one. Telephone companies had strict rules for all aspects of operators' behavior on the job. Merely to get the job, a woman had to pass height, weight, and arm length tests to ensure that she could work in the tight quarters afforded switchboard operators. Operators had to sit with perfect posture for long hours in straight-backed chairs. They were not permitted to communicate with each other. They were to respond quickly, efficiently, and patiently — even when dealing with the most irascible customers...

Johnny Quest Cartoon Opening Sequence 60s credit to RetroJunk dot Com An action packed cartoon that I watched on Saturday mornings in the 60s while eating my bowl of Crap N' Crunch cereal! What ever became of Johnny Quest, Dr. Benton Quest, Race Bannon and Hadji? Little did they know what the future had in store for them. Poor Dr. Quest died in prison after being convicted of the illegal use of nuclear material in direct violation of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Race Bannon is now suffering from brain damage after taking one too many blows to the head, is in a nursing home and has to have this Depends changed hourly; and sadly, poor Johnny Quest lost his job and it was sent to India due to corporate greed, Americans wanting more money for doing less work and the flood of illegal immigrants from Mexico coming to the United States. Distraught, Johnny Quest had no choice but to immigrate to India to find work where he now works for Hadji at a Calcutta call center owned by an American company validating rebates for Salad Shooters for a few Rubles a day. Bandit is in doggy heaven after dying of natural causes in 1974.

Career Academy Reel to Reel Tape Machine This is a small, portable reel to reel tape recorder that was made in Japan for the "Career Academy School of Famous Broadcasters." I attended that Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin back in 1969. These tape recorders were offered to students so that we had something on which to practice our "announcer voice" while we were not in class. It could handle 5" or smaller reels. It still works. At the time I attended the school two rather famous people were sponsors of it. Broadcaster, author and lecturer Robert St. John, and NBA star Kareem Abdul Jabbar, (of course, back then in 1969 he was known as Lew Alcindor, and played for the Milwaukee Bucks.) I got to meet both of these gentlemen. Mr. St. John was actually the author of the textbook we used. I became a radio broadcaster… but never a famous one. :-( This was back in the days when you could lose your broadcasting license and even your job for saying ‘hell’ or ‘damn’ over the air. Somewhere along the way the FCC has curled up and died!

J C Penney Reel to Reel This is a J.C. Penney model 6217 reel to reel tape recorder from the early '70s. All it says on the back is "made in Japan," possibly by Sony, I'm not sure. This was the first reel to reel that I ever owned... if you don't count a cassette player as a reel to reel machine. It had two speakers but was not a stereo. It played monaural out of both speakers which were built into the sides of the machine. A nice little reel to reel machine for a young man like me who didn't have a lot of $$$. Lightweight, with a protective cover, it got the job done rather nicely. I worked as a radio announcer when I owned his and it was super easy to record all my own music onto reels using the station’s equipment. Quite a fringe benefit!

THE HAUNTING Trailer 1963 Forget any other horror film, or any other film about the supernatural you've ever seen, this will scare the c*** out of you, no joke. I was raised watching these types of films, with my mom, so I've seen them all, but this scared me to death. It's what you don't see that will get to you. And there were no special visual effects, like in so many other films of this type, it was all done with sound effects, relying on your imagination to finish the job. Shirley Jackson wrote the book, from which this was taken, in 1959, titled The Haunting of Hill House.
