The Israelites-Desmond Dekker Desmond Dekker (July 16, 1941 May 25, 2006) was a Jamaican ska and reggae singer and songwriter. Together with his backing group, The Aces (consisting of Wilson James and Easton Barrington Howard), he had one of the first international Jamaican hits with "Israelites". Other hits include "007 (Shanty Town)" (1967) and "It Miek" (1969). Before the ascent of Bob Marley, Dekker was one of the most popular musicians within Jamaica, and one of the best-known musicians outside it. n 1968 Dekker's "Israelites" was released, appearing on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Charts, and eventually topping the latter and (in June, 1969) peaking in the Top Ten of the former. He was the first Jamaican performer to enter U.S. market with pure Jamaican music, though he never repeated the feat.

Get on Down and Party Disco music was all about fun. Unlike the protest movement songs of the 60s all people wanted to do was party and have fun, nothing more.

Caluccis Department - Failed Sitcom The premise for the 1973 CBS sitcom Calucci's Department seemed promising: James Coco starred as Joe Calucci, a supervisor of a state unemployment office in New York City. According to Total Television, Calucci "tried to manage a motley crew of nincompoops and deadbeats." Calucci also had a romantic interest with his secretary, Shirley Balukis, played by Candy Azzara. Unfortunately, Calucci's Department was slotted on Fridays at 8 p.m. This placed it directly against NBC's very popular Sanford and Son, so it had trouble establishing an audience. Calucci's Department was axed after just 11 episodes despite garnering generally favorable reviews. Here's part of the opening montage.

The family throws a farewell party for their Chicago friends before they depart. All is smiles and merriment...until they read the telegrams.
