My Little Margie Comic Book 1955 My Little Margie was a situation comedy that alternated between CBS and NBC from 1952 to 1955. It premiered on CBS as the summer replacement for I Love Lucy on June 16, 1952... Set in New York City, the series starred Gale Storm as 21-year-old Margie Albright and former silent film star Charles Farrell as her widowed father, 50-year-old Vern Albright. Both shared the same apartment at the Carlton Arms Hotel.

Our Miss Brooks Opening October 3,1952 to May 11,1956. The trials and tribulations of Connie Brooks, the wisecracking English teacher at Madison High School. Stories revolved around her romantic misadventures as she struggled to impress fellow teacher Philip Boynton (Robert Rockwell and played on the radio show by Jeff Chandler), the biology instructor; and her continual clash with crusty, blustery Osgood P. Conklin (Gale Gordon), the principal. Connie rented a room from kindly old Mrs. Davis and rode to school each morning with one of her students, the dimwitted Walter Denton (Richard Crenna). This was a great show. My daughter, who collects old radio shows, has an entire set of these and they had me in stitches every night!

JIMMY JET Probably the earliest flight simulator ever made for kids and one of the greatest toys ever made! Made by the "Deluxe Reading" toy company in the early 1960's, and sold mainly in supermarkets. (You could also get them by mail-order from the old Spiegel catalog and other mail-order firms as well.) You controlled the steering with a yoke as your jet flew over moving terrain, (a rotating scenery cylinder,) controlling your airspeed as you lined up a "target," then fired (actual) rubber-tipped missiles by pulling the two missile-launching levers. Enough dials, levers, chrome and noise to delight any young fighter pilot! It was a blast knocking down my little green army men with the missiles! It used 4 'D' batteries.

Ruth Etting This Photo of Ruth Etting was taken by Alfred Cheney Johnston, the official photographer of the Ziegfeld Follies and was taken in 1923. Ruth Etting (November 23, 1896 September 24, 1978) was an American singing star of the 1930s, who had over sixty hit recordings . . . as well as a quite colorful life: In 1937 she fell in love with her pianist, Myrl Alderman, who was consequently shot by her husband, Moe Snyder but survived. Snyder was jailed for the assault, and Etting divorced him on November 30, 1937. She married Alderman in December 1938, but the scandal effectively ended her career. . . today, she would just be MORE famous . .

I actually got this from a St. Louis TV station in 1979 or so, and still have this entire episode on tape! Lousy color, but hey...this is OVER 50 YEARS OLD!!!

SCIENCE FICTION THEATER segments from a COLOR episode from 1955! From a show that was originally broadcast on April 16, 1955, here are the opening and closing segments of a Science Fiction Theater episode, called "Time is Just a Place," IN COLOR! Not only is this episode about time travel, but it stars one of my favorite character actors, Warren Stevens, who also appeared in "Forbidden Planet" and a Star Trek TOS episode "By Any Other Name." Also in this particular episode is Don DeFore, who starred in the TV sitcom "Hazel." This episode is VERY typical of 1950s TV, where they gave you the title of the episode at the beginning AND after the commercial break at :15 minutes into the episode!

1950s 1960s Deluxe Reading Corporation Jimmy Jet A vintage Jimmy Jet in action. Deluxe Reading sold these in grocery and drug stores and their toys were place on the top shelves to keep grubby little hands like mine from them. I remember bugging the heck out of my parents for this toy and many others. Most of Deluxe's toys were big and fanstastic! The grocery and drug stores had lay away for the items because most of these toys cost a week's salary back then. Please excuse the filming. I was sick when I was doing the filming and looking through a view finder. The lights were dimmed so you could see how it operates.
