here's a little trivia for you! the original name was going to be "Pretzel," but they dropped that when a toy dog came out with the same name! They were also going to use dice, but put the big spinner in at the last moment . . also, Johnny Carson featured the game on the May 3, 1966 episode of the Tonight Show and one of the guests was Eva Gabor in a low cut dress!!

Only six episodes made and first broadcast in 1982 (1983 in the UK). A number of running gags, including the special guest star every week being killed off during the introduction. Forerunner to the Naked Gun series of films.

Johnny was such a natural with animal guests. On this show he did his best to carry on a conversation with a very chatty and opinionated little green parrot named Lolita. This was my favorite show, and I still miss him late at night.

Linda Richman's (Mike Myers) hero was Barbra Streisand. She constantly "dedicated" the show to her, often claiming her to be the greatest actress in all of history. In what could be considered to be the sketch's most memorable moment, Myers was joined by two special guests Madonna and Roseanne Barr as two other Jewish women (and they were authentic, take my word!). They discussed Streisand's movie, The Prince of Tides, on the show. Near the end of the sketch, the women compared Barbra to "buttah"-and suddenly, a voice announced, "All this talk about food, I'm getting hungry, girls." It was Streisand herself in a surprise appearance; none of the actors had any idea that she was to appear. All three managed to remain in character as the audience went wild. Though Streisand only stayed long enough to give each character a kiss and wave to the audience, the moment has become one of the most memorable in the show's history.

The classiest game show ever to grace the airwaves was What's My Line. In this 1959 episode Jack Benny is the mystery guest. Hilarity ensues. Why can't TV be this good nowadays?

The original classic Sunday night version of What's My Line ended its run of more than 17 years on September 3, 1967. Everyone figured the final mystery guest would be a biggie. Some newspapers even speculated it would be President Lyndon Johnson. (Hence, Arlene Francis' question about being 'elected into office.') Instead host John Daly was himself the mystery guest! Quite a fitting conclusion, I'd say!

Only one episode of Hogan's Heroes was ever shot in black-and-white: the pilot episode. Here is the introduction. You'll note a few changes from the later introductions. The pilot episode had a Russian character in it and Sergeant Carter was absent. Once the series began in earnest, the Russian character was ditched and replaced by Larry Hovis' Sgt. Carter. (Hovis had appeared in the pilot episode as a guest character.) This move actually better reflected reality. Russians captured by the Germans were not treated nearly as well as those from other Allied countries. There would have been no Russians in a Luftstalag.

Check out the highlights from a 1975 Dean Martin roast in which Muhammad Ali is the honored guest. Billy Crystal's impressions are especially good.
