Jeanne Crain was born in Barstow, California on May 25, 1925. Jeanne won several beauty contests with a win in the Miss California contest which sent her to the Miss America Pageant. Although she didn't win the main prize, she did place in the final five. In 1949, Jeanne appeared in three films, A LETTER TO THREE WIVES, THE FAN, and PINKY. It was this latter film which garnered her an Oscar nomination as Best Actress for her role as Pinky Johnson, a nurse who sets up a clinic in the Deep South. She lost to Olivia de Havilland for THE HEIRESS. In 1967, she appeared in a low budget suspense yarn called HOT RODS TO HELL. Her final film to date was as Clara Shaw in 1972's SKYJACKED. Jeanne died of a heart attack in Santa Barbara, California on December 14, 2003. Her husband Paul had died two months earlier. Jeanne was 78.

The opening sequence from MASH. It's hard to tell which season this is from, but it had to be one of the first three because Wayne Rogers and McLean Stevenson are listed as cast members. MASH was truly a groundbreaking show. It could not be easily defined as comedy or drama, but it was often compelling. It garnered 99 Emmy nominations in its 11-year run. The final episode remains the highest-rated show in American TV history.

Originally recorded in 1978, this clip is from his live show 'Manilow Music and Passion' Live From Las Vegas. It was originally taped in December of 2005, in celebration of his 100th performance at the Las Vegas Hilton. This show garnered him his second Emmy. Las Vegas Hilton executives in a press conference with Manilow on December 14, 2004, announced his signing to a long-term engagement as the house show. In March 2006, his engagement was extended through 2008. Barry first recorded this song in 1978.

Too bad for me...I never had any money to put in a money pocket!! Remember Maverick, with James Garner and Jack Kelly? I still remember when it made its debut on the ABC network. It was on Sunday nights at 7:30 and with that early half an hour start, (according to the Nielson ratings) it knocked the stuffing out of Ed Sullivan and Steve Allen who had their shows begin at 8:00pm!

It was the worst factory fire in the history of New York City occurred on March 25, 1911, in the Asch building, where the Triangle Shirtwaist Company occupied the top three of ten floors. Five hundred women, mostly Jewish immigrants between thirteen and twenty-three years old, were employed there. The owners had locked the doors leading to the exits to keep the women at their sewing machines. In less than fifteen minutes, 146 women died. The event galvanized support for additional efforts to be made to increase safety in the workplace. It also garnered support for labor unions in the garment district, and in particular for the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.
